Download or read book The Virtual Fields Method written by Fabrice Pierron and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-03-21 with total page 531 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Virtual Fields Method: Extracting Constitutive Mechanical Parameters from Full-field Deformation Measurements is the first and only one on the Virtual Fields Method, a recent technique to identify materials mechanical properties from full-field measurements. It contains an extensive theoretical description of the method as well as numerous examples of application to a wide range of materials (composites, metals, welds, biomaterials etc.) and situations(static, vibration, high strain rate etc.). Finally, it contains a detailed training section with examples of progressive difficulty to lead the reader to program the VFM. This is accompanied with a set of commented Matlab programs as well as with a GUI Matlab based software for more general situations.

Book Computer Based Prediction of Cyclic Deformation and Fatigue Behavior

Download or read book Computer Based Prediction of Cyclic Deformation and Fatigue Behavior written by Conle A and published by . This book was released on 1988 with total page 19 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The paper briefly reviews the history of rheological spring-slider based, stress-strain models, and the early computerized versions used to simulate cyclic deformation and predict fatigue life. A set of rules is introduced which allows cycle by cycle simulation of the local stress-strain behavior at the root of a notched component subjected to any variable amplitude load history; predicts the crack initiation life; and, with two modifications to the notch analysis and the fatigue damage summation routines, models the local stress-strain behavior at the crack tip and resulting crack propagation rates. Supporting software that has resulted in practical applications for automotive design is discussed.

Book Cyclic plasticity modeling and multiaxial fatigue assessment for an austenitic steel

Download or read book Cyclic plasticity modeling and multiaxial fatigue assessment for an austenitic steel written by Jie Fang and published by Herbert Utz Verlag. This book was released on 2015-07-23 with total page 152 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The present work aims at engineers and scientists in the field of computational mechanics of materials. The objective of this work is to develop a suitable constitutive law and apply it to study effects of cyclic loading and geometry on the fatigue assessment. Firstly, a systematical investigation on the mechanic behaviors of an austenitic stainless steel is carried out. Different multiaxial fatigue life prediction models are studied to assess fatigue damage. The Karim-Ohno kinematic hardening model is extended to incorporate more complex mechanical behaviors. The proposed constitutive model is implemented into FEM code ABAQUS. Finally a computational fatigue analysis methodology is proposed for performing life prediction of notched components based on elastic-plastic computation.

Book Experimental Stress Analysis for Materials and Structures

Download or read book Experimental Stress Analysis for Materials and Structures written by Alessandro Freddi and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-03-19 with total page 509 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book summarizes the main methods of experimental stress analysis and examines their application to various states of stress of major technical interest, highlighting aspects not always covered in the classic literature. It is explained how experimental stress analysis assists in the verification and completion of analytical and numerical models, the development of phenomenological theories, the measurement and control of system parameters under operating conditions, and identification of causes of failure or malfunction. Cases addressed include measurement of the state of stress in models, measurement of actual loads on structures, verification of stress states in circumstances of complex numerical modeling, assessment of stress-related material damage, and reliability analysis of artifacts (e.g. prostheses) that interact with biological systems. The book will serve graduate students and professionals as a valuable tool for finding solutions when analytical solutions do not exist.
