Download or read book Characteristics of Seismic Effect of Underground Explosions osobennosti Seismicheskogo Effekta Kamufletnykh Vzryvov written by D. A. Kharin and published by . This book was released on 1967 with total page 20 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The seismic effect of underground explosions in plastic argillaceous ground was investigated. In the first series of experiments, the dependence of ground motion on the amount of charge (q) and the distance (r) was analyzed; at this depth the strength and stability of the ground at the epicenter is not affected by the explosion. Records of the ground motion as a function of h show the presence of two types of oscillations. The same groups of waves, always observed independently of the amount of charge and h, made it possible to obtain travel-time curves for the first arrivals and characteristic phases. The second series of experiments conducted to obtain more precisely the dependence of ground motion on h. The ratio of amplitudes of surface waves did not remain constant. Formulas were derived for the ground-motion velocity of body and surface waves as a function of h, q, and r for reduced distance. Investigations were also conducted by placing three-component seismic receivers at depths of 5, 10, 15, 20, and 25 m in a shaft 1 m wide and 25 m deep. (Author).

Book The Influence of Rock Material Models on Seismic Discrimination of Underground Nuclear Explosions

Download or read book The Influence of Rock Material Models on Seismic Discrimination of Underground Nuclear Explosions written by and published by . This book was released on 1995 with total page 6 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We found that the spectral characteristics of the seismic signal from underground explosions were mainly determined by the rock material strength and the gas porosity. Both the unloading characteristics and the amplitude of the ''elastic toe'' are important parameters in the porous model.

Book Explosive Shocks in Air

Download or read book Explosive Shocks in Air written by Gilbert F. Kinney and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-11 with total page 281 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A purpose of science is to organize diversified factual knowledge into a coherent body of information, and to present this from the simplest possible viewpoint. This is a formidable task where our knowledge is incomplete, as it is with explosions. Here one runs the risk of oversimplification, naivete, and incom pleteness. Nevertheless a purpose of this work is to present as simply as possible a general description of the basic nature of explosions. This treatise should be of interest to all who are working with explosives such as used in construction or in demolition work, in mining operations, or in military applications. It should also be of interest to those concemed with disasters such as explosions or earthquakes, to those involved in civil defense precautions, and to those concemed with defense against terrorists. That is, this material should be of interest to all who wish to utilize, or to avoid, the effects of explosions as weil as to those whose interest is primarily scientific in nature.

Book Seismic Effect of Underground Nuclear Explosions

Download or read book Seismic Effect of Underground Nuclear Explosions written by A. A. Kuznetsov and published by . This book was released on 1974 with total page 12 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The USSR translation presents formulas used for determining the maximal seismic oscillation acceleration and velocity, and yield quite good approximation to actual measurements under full scale nuclear explosion conditions. It also estimates the expected deformation of structures from seismic oscillations. The seismic oscillation intensity in the nuclear explosion case is no higher than for explosions of conventional chemical explosives of the same power.
