Book Operational Evaluation of Indium Antimonide Detector Cells for the An aas 5 xe 1 Infrared Detecting Set

Download or read book Operational Evaluation of Indium Antimonide Detector Cells for the An aas 5 xe 1 Infrared Detecting Set written by ARMY ELECTRONIC PROVING GROUND FORT HUACHUCA AZ. and published by . This book was released on 1959 with total page 29 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The objective of this test was to determine the aerial surveillance capabilities, during the hours of daylight and darkness, of the indium antimonide detector cell when employed in the AN/AAS-5 (XE-1) infrared detecting set. The indium antimonide detector cell is a diffused photovoltaic infrared detector which responds to infrared wavelengths from 1 to 5.5 microns with a peak at 5.0 microns when cooled to liquid nitrogen temperatures ( -196 C). Test results indicated: (1) Usable data, during the hours of darkness, could not be obtained due to microphonics in the preamplifiers and insufficient gaseous nitrogen cooling. (2) By changing preamplifiers and using direct liquid nitrogen cooling the results obtained were vastly improved. (3) Resolution in the AN/AAS-5 (XE-1) was approximately 10 mils. (4) Maintenance consisted only of replacing an allen-head screw. (5) When properly cooled, the cell's detection capabilities were good. (Author).

Book Production Engineering Measure to Investigate Properties of Indium Antimonide and to Provide 801 c6 Infrared Detectors

Download or read book Production Engineering Measure to Investigate Properties of Indium Antimonide and to Provide 801 c6 Infrared Detectors written by Robert L. Smythe and published by . This book was released on 1963 with total page 37 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The properties of photoconductive indium anti monide are studied. Work is in three distinct phases. The first phase consists of work per formed from start to shipment of the second group of engineering samples. The second phase is a pre-production phase in which finalized plans and processes are determined in preparation for the production run. The third phase is performance of the production run. Book Measurement and Instrumentation

Download or read book Measurement and Instrumentation written by Alan S Morris and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2011-08-31 with total page 640 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Measurement and Instrumentation introduces undergraduate engineering students to the measurement principles and the range of sensors and instruments that are used for measuring physical variables. Based on Morris’s Measurement and Instrumentation Principles, this brand new text has been fully updated with coverage of the latest developments in such measurement technologies as smart sensors, intelligent instruments, microsensors, digital recorders and displays and interfaces. Clearly and comprehensively written, this textbook provides students with the knowledge and tools, including examples in LABVIEW, to design and build measurement systems for virtually any engineering application. The text features chapters on data acquisition and signal processing with LabVIEW from Dr. Reza Langari, Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Texas A&M University. Early coverage of measurement system design provides students with a better framework for understanding the importance of studying measurement and instrumentation Includes significant material on data acquisition, coverage of sampling theory and linkage to acquisition/processing software, providing students with a more modern approach to the subject matter, in line with actual data acquisition and instrumentation techniques now used in industry. Extensive coverage of uncertainty (inaccuracy) aids students’ ability to determine the precision of instruments Integrated use of LabVIEW examples and problems enhances students’ ability to understand and retain content

Book Solar Energy Engineering and Applications

Download or read book Solar Energy Engineering and Applications written by Ahmed Rachid and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-02-14 with total page 198 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Solar Energy Engineering and Applications gives a general and concise presentation of solar energy from a practical engineering perspective. The book provides readers with a comprehensive, accessible, and intuitive introduction to proven methods and tools for the design, implementation, and monitoring of solar energy systems and associated auxiliary technologies without covering detailed in-depth physics. Coverage includes key aspects of solar energy such as photovoltaic solar cells and systems, battery technologies, solar concentrators, and hybrid photovoltaic/thermal systems. Application areas such as homes, buildings, solar farms, street lighting, vehicles, and dryers are discussed. The methods for connecting solar farms and other photovoltaic installations to power distribution systems are explored in the context of smart grid technologies that are available to facilitate such connections. The book will be a valuable professional reference for practicing engineers and researchers involved in the applications of solar energy.
