Book Chance constrained Programming with 0 1 Or Bounded Decision Variables

Download or read book Chance constrained Programming with 0 1 Or Bounded Decision Variables written by Stanford University. Applied Mathematics and Statistics Laboratory and published by . This book was released on 1966 with total page 44 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The paper considers the chance-constrained programming problem where the decision variables can be either bounded and continuous or restricted to be either zero or one, and where some or all of the elements of A, b, and c are random variables that may be statistically dependent. Both exact and approximate solution procedures are presented, where most of these are based on several linear inequalities that permit this problem to be approximated by a number of ordinary (integer or noninteger) linear programming problems. Either zero-order or linear decision rules are allowed for the continuous variables, and a general method of making 'second-stage decisions' with either continuous or 0-1 variables is developed. Book Integer Programming and Related Areas

Download or read book Integer Programming and Related Areas written by C. Kastning and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-11 with total page 504 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Integer Prograw~ing is one of the most fascinating and difficult areas in the field of Mathematical Optimization. Due to this fact notable research contributions to Integer Programming have been made in very different branches of mathematics and its applications. Since these publications are scattered over many journals, proceedings volumes, monographs, and working papers, a comprehensive bibliography of all these sources is a helpful tool even for specialists in this field. I initiated this compilation of literature in 1970 at the Institut fur ~konometrie und Operations Research, University of Bonn. Since then many collaborators have contributed to and worked on it. Among them Dipl.-Math. Claus Kastning has done the bulk of the work. With great perseverance and diligence he has gathered all the material and checked it with the original sources. The main aim was to incorporate rare and not easily accessible sources like Russian journals, preprints or unpublished papers. Without the invaluable and dedicated engagement of Claus Kastning the bibliography would never have reached this final version. For this reason he must be considered its responsible editor. As with any other collection this literature list has a subjective viewpoint and may be in some sense incomplete. We have however tried to be as complete as possible. The bibliography contains 4704 different publications by 6767 authors which were classified by 11839 descriptor entries.

Book excerpt: Integer Programming: Theory, Applications, and Computations provides information pertinent to the theory, applications, and computations of integer programming. This book presents the computational advantages of the various techniques of integer programming. Organized into eight chapters, this book begins with an overview of the general categorization of integer applications and explains the three fundamental techniques of integer programming. This text then explores the concept of implicit enumeration, which is general in a sense that it is applicable to any well-defined binary program. Other chapters consider the branch-and-bound methods, the cutting-plane method, and its closely related asymptotic problem. This book discusses as well several specialized algorithms for certain well-known integer models and provides an alternative approach to the solution of the integer problem. The final chapter deals with a number of observations about the formulations and executions of integer programming models. This book is a valuable resource for industrial engineers and research workers.

This book was released on 2015-03-08 with total page 627 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume contains thirty-three selected general research papers devoted to the theory and application of the mathematics of constrained optimization, including linear programming and its extensions to convex programming, general nonlinear programming, integer programming, and programming under uncertainty. Originally published in 1971. The Princeton Legacy Library uses the latest print-on-demand technology to again make available previously out-of-print books from the distinguished backlist of Princeton University Press. These editions preserve the original texts of these important books while presenting them in durable paperback and hardcover editions. The goal of the Princeton Legacy Library is to vastly increase access to the rich scholarly heritage found in the thousands of books published by Princeton University Press since its founding in 1905.

Book Handbook on Project Management and Scheduling Vol 2

Download or read book Handbook on Project Management and Scheduling Vol 2 written by Christoph Schwindt and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-01-13 with total page 768 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Due to the increasing importance of product differentiation and collapsing product life cycles, a growing number of value-adding activities in the industry and service sector are organized in projects. Projects come in many forms, often taking considerable time and consuming a large amount of resources. The management and scheduling of projects represents a challenging task and project performance may have a considerable impact on an organization's competitiveness. This handbook presents state-of-the-art approaches to project management and scheduling. More than sixty contributions written by leading experts in the field provide an authoritative survey of recent developments. The book serves as a comprehensive reference, both, for researchers and project management professionals. The handbook consists of two volumes. Volume 1 is devoted to single-modal and multi-modal project scheduling. Volume 2 presents multi-project problems, project scheduling under uncertainty and vagueness, managerial approaches and a separate part on applications, case studies and information systems.

Book Stochastic Programming

Download or read book Stochastic Programming written by Willem K. Klein Haneveld and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2019-10-24 with total page 249 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides an essential introduction to Stochastic Programming, especially intended for graduate students. The book begins by exploring a linear programming problem with random parameters, representing a decision problem under uncertainty. Several models for this problem are presented, including the main ones used in Stochastic Programming: recourse models and chance constraint models. The book not only discusses the theoretical properties of these models and algorithms for solving them, but also explains the intrinsic differences between the models. In the book’s closing section, several case studies are presented, helping students apply the theory covered to practical problems. The book is based on lecture notes developed for an Econometrics and Operations Research course for master students at the University of Groningen, the Netherlands - the longest-standing Stochastic Programming course worldwide.

Book Data Driven Distributionally Robust Chance Constrained Optimization With Wasserstein Metric

Download or read book Data Driven Distributionally Robust Chance Constrained Optimization With Wasserstein Metric written by Ran Ji and published by . This book was released on 2020 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We study distributionally robust chance-constrained programming (DRCCP) optimization problems with data-driven Wasserstein ambiguity sets. The proposed algorithmic and reformulation framework applies to distributionally robust optimization problems subjected to individual as well as joint chance constraints, with random right-hand side and technology vector, and under two types of uncertainties, called uncertain probabilities and continuum of realizations. For the uncertain probabilities case, we provide new mixed-integer linear programming reformulations for DRCCP problems and derive a set of precedence optimality cuts to strengthen the formulations. For the continuum of realizations case with random right-hand side, we propose an exact mixed-integer second-order cone programming (MISOCP) reformulation and a linear programming (LP) outer approximation. For the continuum of realizations case with random technology vector, we propose two MISOCP and LP outer approximations. We show that all proposed relaxations become exact reformulations when the decision variables are binary or bounded general integers. We evaluate the scalability and tightness of the proposed MISOCP and (MI)LP formulations on a distributionally robust chance constrained knapsack problem.
