Download or read book C H a D a Celebration of Life Beyond a Mother s Memories written by Arista and published by . This book was released on 2020-08-13 with total page 408 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Chad Alan Butrum traversed the Earth for twenty-six years. To honour the moments of his Life, his artist mother Arista takes us on a journey of Love, Life and Laughter, as the young family forges new dreams from Detroit to Chicago, St. Louis, Malibu, and last stop New York City. After the unexpected loss of Chad to Sudden Cardiac Death as he played football, Arista finds herself in what she calls 'Castle Carolco, in the land of Hollywood.' Through his colleagues, she discovers the young man Chad was becoming - the promise of a talented creative writer who touched the lives of many people in his short Life. He was a 'young senator who wore a baseball/football uniform and loved all people- any age, any heritage, any orientation.' In Part II, Beyond A Mother's Memories, the author transcends loss into a quest for "Living," by founding the non-profit organization, The Chad Foundation for Athletes and Artists to safeguard young hearts so they can live long, healthy Lives and reach their most cherished dreams. It also inspires youth to live as its namesake did- anti-substance abuse and alcohol-free, "Healthy Body/Mind/ Spirit." (Chad never smoked a cigarette or drank an alcoholic beverage his entire Life.) To date, "The Chad Foundation Cardiovascular Screening Program" has provided 8,000 Echocardiograms in 5 states and, globally, in Austria and Sweden. She encounters many parents who have also lost children to SCD, and their heartfelt stories are shared within underscoring the critical importance of raising awareness of Sudden Cardiac Death in the Young, implementing preventive heart screenings, knowledge of CPR, and placement of AEDs. It is a journey of the Heart and the discovery that "The Heart is the Home of our two greatest gifts - Love and Life," and must be safeguarded as our most valued possession.

Book Til Times Get Better

Download or read book Til Times Get Better written by Elle Louise and published by Balboa Press. This book was released on 2022-09-13 with total page 184 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Heart wrenching book with triumph over tragedy. Elle found the inner strength and courage to move beyond the devastation that surrounded her. A soul touching read...definitely a 5. -America K. West Palm Beach, FL This book left my heart hurting for Elle and children like her. The family members each hid their own lies and shame... It inspired me to know these same children can become the strength of the world. What we (I) do matters! ... - Jean B. Round Lake, IL From her earliest childhood memories until the age of 17, Elle fought a battle that didn't belong to her but to adults. At 4, she was removed from her parents due to physical abuse...and that was just the beginning. Elle quickly learned how to survive each situation she was given: adoption, foster care, abandonment, sexual, physical, emotional abuse, secrets, and later the search and rejection by her biological father. She was always able to hide under a smile of masks at school. But everything changed the night her father put a gun to her head. That was the defining moment. Elle realized if she didn't take things into her own hands and escape the abuse, she would probably end up dead. This memoir is the true story of Elle’s journey to save her own life and begin a new one. It is an inspiring voyage of relentless courage, self-reliance, and most of all forgiveness. Through her darkest challenges she never lost hope. She found that love and life can still exist if you never give up and remain steadfast in your personal quest for healing. Elle fought being a victim and became a “Survivor.”

Book Poetic Reflections

Download or read book Poetic Reflections written by Francis B. Mooneyhan Jr and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2012-02-10 with total page 276 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Prior to his departure to serve as a Family History missionary in Salt Lake City, Frank wrote a poem about both the wonderment of his "call" and of what lay in wait for him. His concerns about his age and poor health were soon dismissed upon his arrival in the mission field when Frank noticed that there were many who suffered far more than he, thus inspiring a poem about the willingness of others to serve God despite major obstacles in their lives. He recited this poem as part of his three minute introduction and arrival speech to his missionary group, many of whom requested a copy. Working in the Genealogy Library, Frank helped in the restoration of books and assisted his wife as lab photographer. He continued to write poems as missionaries entered and departed the mission and was quickly dubbed the "lab poet." Instead of writing a traditional daily journal, his wife suggested that he write his feelings and thoughts through poetry. This challenge helped Frank occupy his mind in a positive direction while struggling with daily health trials and his poetry journal evolved into this book, a compilation of heartfelt, inspired and jovial poems.

We need this message more than ever.” — Malala Yousafzai "Melinda Gates's book is a lesson in listening. A powerful, poignant, and ultimately humble call to arms." — Tara Westover, author of the New York Times #1 bestseller Educated A debut from Melinda Gates, a timely and necessary call to action for women's empowerment. “How can we summon a moment of lift for human beings – and especially for women? Because when you lift up women, you lift up humanity.” For the last twenty years, Melinda Gates has been on a mission to find solutions for people with the most urgent needs, wherever they live. Throughout this journey, one thing has become increasingly clear to her: If you want to lift a society up, you need to stop keeping women down. In this moving and compelling book, Melinda shares lessons she’s learned from the inspiring people she’s met during her work and travels around the world. As she writes in the introduction, “That is why I had to write this book—to share the stories of people who have given focus and urgency to my life. I want all of us to see ways we can lift women up where we live.” Melinda’s unforgettable narrative is backed by startling data as she presents the issues that most need our attention—from child marriage to lack of access to contraceptives to gender inequity in the workplace. And, for the first time, she writes about her personal life and the road to equality in her own marriage. Throughout, she shows how there has never been more opportunity to change the world—and ourselves. Writing with emotion, candor, and grace, she introduces us to remarkable women and shows the power of connecting with one another. When we lift others up, they lift us up, too.
