The first furniture plant Opened in 1888. That plant was the High Point Furniture Company. The population of High Point is seven thousand. A highly organized City Council oversees one of the first municipally owned electrical services in the South, lighting the city at moderate cost. The bity also owns a soft water reservoir and combined with the many private wells, there is an ample water supply. In addition, the city has 5 sewage system and a well-manned police department.
