Book CDM2007 Workplace in use Guidance for Designers

Download or read book CDM2007 Workplace in use Guidance for Designers written by A. Gilbertson and published by . This book was released on 2007 with total page 74 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2007 (known as 'CDM2007') affect all construction work of any significance. The Regulations place duties upon all designers and this guide is designed to assist in fulfilling those duties with respect to Construction Work. CDM2007 builds upon earlier health and safety legislation by imposing a framework of duties so that all the parties to a construction project must consider health and safety. The Regulations have an Approved Code of Practice L144 (known as the ACoP) titled Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2007, which has legal status and must be referred to alongside CDM2007.This guide addresses workplace 'in-use' hazards; there is a companion CIRIA guide C662 which addresses construction hazards.

Book The Design Manager s Handbook

Download or read book The Design Manager s Handbook written by John Eynon and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2013-01-23 with total page 237 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Design management as a recognised role in the built environment industry is relatively new, initially arising from the need for better co-ordination and delivery of design information from design teams to main contractors - particularly important as procurement routes involving contractor led design have become much more commonplace. The advent of design packages driven by specialist sub-contractors has also increased the need for co-ordination and management of the design process. With the growing complexity of construction projects, effective design management is increasingly central to project success. BIM, as it gains acceptance across the industry will undoubtedly have a huge impact on project delivery process and the role of the Design Manager. The CIOB Design Manager’s Handbook covers subjects such as design process and management tools, the role of the Design Manager, value management and innovation, procurement routes and implications, people dynamics, and factors that will affect the development of the Design Manager’s role in the future, including BIM. It will ensure Design Managers understand the processes, tools and skills that are required to be successful in the role, and will assist them in delivering real value to complex construction projects. Written for both the Design Manager practitioner and students on construction related degree courses, anyone interested in construction based design management will also find the book useful.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Almost 3000 lives have been lost in the UK construction industry over the last twenty-five years, in addition to those seriously injured or made ill. The need to reduce this rate has required tight controls to be introduced throughout the planning and management of construction projects in the UK. The Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2007 outline the responsibilities and liabilities for the various professionals and agents involved. Straightforward and practical, Understanding the CDM 2007 Regulations demonstrates the rationale behind the regs, covers the duties of the five core duty holders (client, CDM coordinator, designer, principal contractor and contractor), explains the importance of the hazard management process on every project and also sets out the consequences of failing to successfully plan, design and manage for safety. Any client, architect, engineer, CDM co-ordinator, project manager, construction professional, or student will find this a simple but thorough and dependable guide and should value the management toolkit and the numerous practical examples of best practice and guidance on how to use the Approved Code of Practice appropriately. This book shows how to unleash the potential of the regulations and add real value to the industry.
