This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 491 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A companion volume to the text "Complex Variables: An Introduction" by the same authors, this book further develops the theory, continuing to emphasize the role that the Cauchy-Riemann equation plays in modern complex analysis. Topics considered include: Boundary values of holomorphic functions in the sense of distributions; interpolation problems and ideal theory in algebras of entire functions with growth conditions; exponential polynomials; the G transform and the unifying role it plays in complex analysis and transcendental number theory; summation methods; and the theorem of L. Schwarz concerning the solutions of a homogeneous convolution equation on the real line and its applications in harmonic function theory.

Book Complex Analysis and Applications Second Edition

Download or read book Complex Analysis and Applications Second Edition written by Alan Jeffrey and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2005-11-10 with total page 594 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Complex Analysis and Applications, Second Edition explains complex analysis for students of applied mathematics and engineering. Restructured and completely revised, this textbook first develops the theory of complex analysis, and then examines its geometrical interpretation and application to Dirichlet and Neumann boundary value problems. A discussion of complex analysis now forms the first three chapters of the book, with a description of conformal mapping and its application to boundary value problems for the two-dimensional Laplace equation forming the final two chapters. This new structure enables students to study theory and applications separately, as needed. In order to maintain brevity and clarity, the text limits the application of complex analysis to two-dimensional boundary value problems related to temperature distribution, fluid flow, and electrostatics. In each case, in order to show the relevance of complex analysis, each application is preceded by mathematical background that demonstrates how a real valued potential function and its related complex potential can be derived from the mathematics that describes the physical situation.

Book The Neumann Problem for the Cauchy Riemann Complex AM 75 Volume 75

Download or read book The Neumann Problem for the Cauchy Riemann Complex AM 75 Volume 75 written by Gerald B. Folland and published by Princeton University Press. This book was released on 2016-03-02 with total page 156 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Part explanation of important recent work, and part introduction to some of the techniques of modern partial differential equations, this monograph is a self-contained exposition of the Neumann problem for the Cauchy-Riemann complex and certain of its applications. The authors prove the main existence and regularity theorems in detail, assuming only a knowledge of the basic theory of differentiable manifolds and operators on Hilbert space. They discuss applications to the theory of several complex variables, examine the associated complex on the boundary, and outline other techniques relevant to these problems. In an appendix they develop the functional analysis of differential operators in terms of Sobolev spaces, to the extent it is required for the monograph.

Book Mathematical Methods in Physics

Download or read book Mathematical Methods in Physics written by Philippe Blanchard and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 469 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Physics has long been regarded as a wellspring of mathematical problems. Mathematical Methods in Physics is a self-contained presentation, driven by historic motivations, excellent examples, detailed proofs, and a focus on those parts of mathematics that are needed in more ambitious courses on quantum mechanics and classical and quantum field theory. Aimed primarily at a broad community of graduate students in mathematics, mathematical physics, physics and engineering, as well as researchers in these disciplines.

Book Principles of Advanced Mathematical Physics

Download or read book Principles of Advanced Mathematical Physics written by Robert D. Richtmyer and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 439 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A first consequence of this difference in texture concerns the attitude we must take toward some (or perhaps most) investigations in "applied mathe matics," at least when the mathematics is applied to physics. Namely, those investigations have to be regarded as pure mathematics and evaluated as such. For example, some of my mathematical colleagues have worked in recent years on the Hartree-Fock approximate method for determining the structures of many-electron atoms and ions. When the method was intro duced, nearly fifty years ago, physicists did the best they could to justify it, using variational principles, intuition, and other techniques within the texture of physical reasoning. By now the method has long since become part of the established structure of physics. The mathematical theorems that can be proved now (mostly for two- and three-electron systems, hence of limited interest for physics), have to be regarded as mathematics. If they are good mathematics (and I believe they are), that is justification enough. If they are not, there is no basis for saying that the work is being done to help the physicists. In that sense, applied mathematics plays no role in today's physics. In today's division of labor, the task of the mathematician is to create mathematics, in whatever area, without being much concerned about how the mathematics is used; that should be decided in the future and by physics.
