Still Al-Qaeda had accomplished much, for the assault had terrified Americans from the smallest hamlets to the largest cities. And so successful had the assault been, that the evil mastermind behind it is now determined to repeat it again and again and again until America bows and submits to Islam and the rule of the supreme Iranian Ayatollah. Unfortunately for this evil genius and his allies, seemingly disgraced agent Philip Calvert is actually still on the job. And so is his team, now no longer an ad hoc group, but Americas premiere anti-terrorist task force Task Force AT. And its job isnt simply to counter terrorists and arrest them, but to eliminate them with prejudice

Book It Has Taken a Lifetime

Download or read book It Has Taken a Lifetime written by Gene D. Lord and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2021-06-16 with total page 243 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Writing this book has been in my bucket list for about twenty-five years. I wanted to share my experiences growing up in the country along with my wonderful family. Marrying my wife Marsha and having our two boys and our four grandchildren have been some of the best blessings a man could have. Sharing my Christian testimony of how God has been with me throughout my life has been so satisfying. God was working on me long before I even realized it. Spending time with my beautiful friends and having experiences with them while hunting, camping, and enjoying the outdoors have been a significant part of who I am. Spending almost fifty years working with Flowers Foods was a wonderful experience that allowed me to meet so many people and share my story with each of them. God has been so good. Some would say I had been successful in life; and as the world may see it, I suppose I have been. However, I believe my most significant success has been “Being right smack dab in the middle of where God wanted me to be.”

Book Public Management

Download or read book Public Management written by Carolyn J. Hill and published by CQ Press. This book was released on 2015-09-23 with total page 529 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Managing in the public sector requires an understanding of the interaction between three distinct dimensions—administrative structures, organizational cultures, and the skills of individual managers. Public managers must produce results that citizens and their representatives expect from their government while fulfilling their constitutional responsibilities. In Public Management: Thinking and Acting in Three Dimensions, authors Carolyn J. Hill and Laurence E. Lynn, Jr. argue that one-size-fits-all approaches are inadequate for dealing with the distinctive challenges that public managers face. Drawing on both theory and detailed case studies of actual practice, the authors show how public management that is based on applying a three-dimensional analytic framework—structure, culture, and craft—to specific management problems is the most effective way to improve the performance of America’s unique scheme of governance in accordance with the rule of law. The book educates readers to be informed citizens and prepares students to participate as professionals in the world of public management.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: R.M. Hare is one of the most widely discussed of today's moral philosophers. In this volume he has collected a number of essays, including one which is previously unpublished, which fill in the theoretical background of his thought. Each essay is self-contained, but together they give a connected picture of his views on such questions as the objectivity and rationality of moral thinking, the issue between the ethical realists and their opponents, the place in our moral thought of appeals to common convictions, and how to tell whether a feature of a situation is morally relevant.

Book Wronging Rights

  • Author : Aakash Singh Rathore
  • Publisher : Routledge
  • Release : 2012-03-12
  • ISBN : 1136704272

Download or read book Wronging Rights written by Aakash Singh Rathore and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2012-03-12 with total page 176 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book brings together two of the most powerful and relevant philosophical critiques of human rights: the post-colonialist and the post-Althusserian, its balanced internal structure not just throwing these two critiques together, but actually forcing them to enter into confrontation and dialogue. The book is organised in three parts: at each end, the post-colonialist and the post-Althusserian critiques are represented by some of their main thinkers (Ratna Kapur, G. C. Spivak, Upendra Baxi; Slavoj Žižek, Jacques Rancière), while in the middle, an American intermezzo (Richard Rorty, Wendy Brown) functions as a genuine Derridian supplement: always already contaminating the purity of the two theoretical schools, preventing their enclosure and, hence, fuelling and complicating further their mutual confrontation. As in any authentic dialogue, the introduction and the conclusion each claim victory for one of the sides by changing the very terms and rules of the dialogue, picturing it as a confrontation between emancipatory universalism and inefficient particularism (from the perspective of the post-Althusserians), or as a split between hypocrisy and truth (from the perspective of the post-colonialists).

Book A Splendid Gift

Download or read book A Splendid Gift written by Barbara Elle Prisceaux and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2023-09-19 with total page 173 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “A forthright, poignant, and heartwarming account of a storied and beloved career in nursing.” – Kirkus Reviews A Splendid Gift: Celebrating 60 Years in Nursing tells the story of Barbara Elle Prisceaux, who turned a childhood dream into an extraordinary career. As a young girl in Yonkers, New York, Barbara was drawn to the nurses walking from their residence at the end of her block to the hospital several streets away. She decided then and there that she would become a nurse too by age fifteen, when her family was living in West Lawn Pennsylvania, she accepted a part-time nurse’s aide position at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Reading, and she bused twenty miles each way after school, and sometimes, on weekends. At eighteen, she was accepted into the School of Nursing at Bellevue Hospital, Class of 1962. Including two enlistments in the Army Nurse Corps Reserves, Barbara spent most of her career on the West Coast. In 2003, she moved from California to Central Florida and changed her patient care focus from Emergency and Critical Care to Oncology Nursing. Combining her nursing career with her love of writing, Barbara developed and coordinated educational programs in Critical Care; designed legal defense protocols for Renal Transplant litigations; cofounded Paper Chasers Medical-Legal Consultations; edited documents for Northern California District Attorneys Association, and as an Oncology Certified Nurse in Florida, specialized in clinical research and advocacy for oncology patients and their families. Throughout her six-decade career, Barbara met challenge after challenge head-on, from ever-changing technology to hospital politics. When she retired at the age of seventy-seven, she was working two 12-hour shifts each week, providing hands-on care to patients in a medical center eighty miles from her home.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: THE BOYS WHO BRING IN THE CROP is a mostly true story about a group of amateur marijunana smugglers who operated out of Florida in the mid seventies. These guys really had some cajones, they did their thing right under the noses of the law. They made seven flights to Colombia and back and never got caught, partly because they were smart and planned well, partly because of dumb luck. The book is fast paced, it all takes place in less than one year. Along the way there is plenty of adventure, not everything goes as planned. There is some romance thrown in, these guys knew how to enjoy life with the piles of money they accumulated.
