Book excerpt: Excerpt from Catalogue of the Avery Collection of Ancient Chinese Coloisonnes Again, we find, both in porcelain and in cloisonne, that same general point of view which recognizes the Ming period as the greatest, and its pieces as being the rarest and the most important; while the K'ang-hsi era is only a grade less important, when pieces of the very highest qual ity are compared, and often in other cases quite equal to the Ming.
