Book excerpt: The British Columbia Forest Service is reviewing the timber supply in all timber supply areas (TSAs) and tree farm licence areas in the province to identify the economic, environmental, and social consequences of existing forest management practices, identify where improved information is needed, and provide information to make necessary adjustments to the allowable annual cuts (AACs) for the next five years. This discussion paper summarizes the technical reports from the timber supply review in the Cassiar TSA. It describes the timber supply review process; the Cassiar TSA, including forest resources, current AAC, and a socio-economic profile; current management practices; timber supply forecasts and critical factors, including a base case forecast; and environmental and socio-economic impacts.
