This book was released on 2020 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Climate change is a major factor endangering sustainable food production. Various efforts have been made to prevent potential food shortages in future. Meanwhile, access to adequate food is an important part of human rights. In Indonesia, the opportunity for cassava development is still widely open and has potential to provide for the world,Äôs needs in future. Cassava is well-known by farmers in Indonesia and can be easily cultivated in all areas of Indonesia, even though the soil fertility is low. The current problems are that cassava is still considered as an inferior commodity and is only used for direct consumption. Indonesia is able to meet the world\¬¥s cassava needs only by utilizing 54% of the total available land, which is suitable for planting cassava. Cassava utilization is actually large and has potential as raw material for many strategic industries. The map of cassava development in Indonesia is in the phase of growth and product expansion (diversification). Thus, the efforts in preparing cassava in Indonesia to meet the world,Äôs needs in future, including (1) increasing cassava productivity, (2) improving cassava added value by-product diversification, and (3) enhancing cassava bio-economy by implementing a bio-industry system integrating cassava and livestock farming.

In this study of marketing upland crops in Indonesia the authors demonstrate active peasant participation and entrepreneurship in commercial and industrial activities. The peasant marketing system not only works as an effective bridge between farm producers and consumers but also produces significant employment and income in the rural sector. Book Microbial Fermentation as Means of Improving Cassava Production in Indonesia

Download or read book Microbial Fermentation as Means of Improving Cassava Production in Indonesia written by Andri Frediansyah and published by . This book was released on 2018 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Cassava is one of the pivotal carbohydrate sources for millions of people in Indonesia. Its production up to 20 million ton a year made this country to become the third most prominent producer of cassava. However, cassava is often considered as food sources for marginal people. The majority of individuals still depend on rice and wheat flour for carbohydrate intake. Unfortunately, the elevating consumption of those sources is an imbalance with its products nationally. Both use of rice product and wheat flour is more than 8.5 kg/capita/year. The critical fact is that Indonesia is one of the biggest countries in rice production globally. However, it is also one of the largest, rice importers. Another hand, the existence of wheat flour is the result of imports from other countries and always increasing every year. The Indonesian government has contributed actively to resuscitate local foods including the cassava. There are numerous strategies that have been applied to substitute the wheat flour, however, the characteristic was always far different from its flour. Mocaf is the recent trend for Indonesian food industry. It is free of gluten and can easily substitute with wheat flour to produce several types of wheat-dependent-products.

Book Deregulation and Development in Indonesia

Download or read book Deregulation and Development in Indonesia written by Farrukh Iqbal and published by Bloomsbury Publishing USA. This book was released on 2002-02-28 with total page 215 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Of the developing nations of East Asia, Indonesia came relatively late to liberalizing its trade and investment regime. Only in the mid-1980s, when it was clear that oil revenues alone would not suffice and that a new engine of growth was needed, did the country's government swing behind a systematic deregulation effort. Tariffs were cut, non-tariff barriers were lowered, foreign investment restrictions were reduced, export promotion incentives were enhanced, and various financial sector regulations were eased. All this combined to spark a labor-intensive export-led economic boom that was accompanied by an expansion in wages and employment and a boost in productivity. This book documents how Indonesia truly became part of the East Asian miracle story starting in the mid-1980s. Destined to become a leading case study of export-led development in Indonesia, this book grew out of a World Bank/Indonesian Economic Society Symposium held in Jakarta. There was, however, a parallel story as well, of crony capitalism and weak governance, that led to the financial and political crisis of 1997-98. These aspects were reflected in continued protection of certain sectors where the cronies were active, in restrictions on domestic trade and competition that were left in place for their benefit, and in financial manipulations that were conducted to their advantage. These aspects are noted as well in the book and pulled together in the concluding chapter, which takes the story up through the crisis years to the present.

Book Cassava Utilization in Animal Feed

Download or read book Cassava Utilization in Animal Feed written by Rupert Best and published by CIAT. This book was released on 1990 with total page 150 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Cassava is the most importan root and tuber crop grown in the tropical developing regions of the world. While the greater part of cassava production is destined for human food uses, the potential for the use of cassava and cassava products in animal feeding has increased considerably over the pest 20 years. The interest in the use of cassava as a carbohydrate source to replace, partially or totally, feed grains in rations for swine, poultry, ruminants, and other amimals has generated a vast amount of information on the subject. With the objective of systematizing this information and of making it more widely available to researchers, producers, and agroindustrialists, CIAT produced the bibliography "Cassava utilization in animal feed" in 1985 which contained 578 references.
