After reading over four hundred case studies I decided to at least give some fictional help to the people living these horrors every day. Casey is a fictionally abused child. A thirteen-year-old girl, abused for years by her stepfather and mother. The pain she suffers and the life she longs for are the reason for her final demise. Her foster family will spend the next three years of their lives changing the way children all over the country are treated by a system too indifferent and far too overwhelmed to do anything for the thousands of children we lose every year. Although the book is fictional the horrors are real. There are children living these nightmares every day and still almost nothing is being done to correct this travesty on our youth. I hope that this book will awaken the people who hold the key to the help these children need. The Judges in this country should be ashamed of themselves and Im sure they know who they are.
