Book Report of Commission I Carrying the Gospel to All the Non Christian World

Download or read book Report of Commission I Carrying the Gospel to All the Non Christian World written by World Missionary Conference and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-02-05 with total page 462 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Report of Commission I; Carrying the Gospel to All the Non-Christian World: With Supplement; Presentation and Discussion of the Report in the Conference on 15th June 1910 Owing to the shortness of the time in which the Com mission has had to do its work, it has not been able to make its investigations as extensive and as thorough as is desirable. Its members are keenly conscious of the resulting limitations. It is earnestly hoped, however, that the way may have been pointed to a more scientific study of the fields and problems, and, above all, that enough may have been done to impress the Church with the unprecedented urgency of the situation, to create a sense of deep solicitude as to the grave consequences which must ensue if the present unique world opportunity be not improved, and to indicate the lines along which the Church may wisely enlarge its operations, and the ways in which the efficiency of the work of evangelisation may be increased. This book is the first historical project to analyze Barrett’s archival materials, which shed light not only on the production of the Encyclopedia, but more importantly, on the development of World Christianity as a discipline and the importance of both African Christianity and quantitative perspectives in its history. This book captures innovations at the intersection of World Christianity, mission studies, and the sociology of religion – the kind of interdisciplinary research that makes World Christianity studies unique.

Book Decolonizing the Theological Curriculum in an Online Age

Download or read book Decolonizing the Theological Curriculum in an Online Age written by Chimera Nyika and published by African Books Collective. This book was released on 2022-10-28 with total page 428 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The second annual conference of the Theological Society of Malawi was held at the historic Ekwendeni Campus of the University of Livingstonia from 14 to 16 September 2021. It took up the urgent theme of the decolonization of the theological curriculum. Though Malawi has been an independent country for 58 years, coloniality still stalks the land. This book calls theologians to take a lead in decolonization, while navigating the educational task in an online age. With more than twenty institutions teaching theology at tertiary level in Malawi, and now united in the Theological Society of Malawi, there is huge potential to learn from each other in developing the theological curriculum in the country. While the primary audience is unashamedly a Malawian one, this book might also prove relevant in other contexts where there is a reckoning with past and present experience of colonialism. The book is a call to action and is published in the hope that it will have lasting impact on the teaching and learning of theology in Malawi and beyond.
