Download or read book Handbook of Cities and the Environment written by Kevin Archer and published by Edward Elgar Publishing. This book was released on 2016-12-30 with total page 473 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With an ever-growing majority of the world's human population living in city spaces, the relationship between cities and nature will be one of the key environmental issues of the 21st Century. This book brings together a diverse set of authors to explore the various aspects of this relationship both theoretically and empirically. Rather than considering cities as wholly separate from nature, a running theme throughout the book is that cities, and city dwellers, should be characterized as intrinsic in the creation of specifically urban-generated ‘socio-natures’.

Book The Carpenter s Path

Download or read book The Carpenter s Path written by Clifford Hall and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2022-08-05 with total page 375 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: My hope when I first began putting this project together was to show people the path I took to find the key to living a simple and harmonious life. I believe that most of us spend our entire existence putting too much value into vain things like object possessions and who we are in connection to the world we live in, failing to realize that all this comes directly from our ego, which is part of our mind's negative operation process that holds us hostage. This part of the mind is, without a doubt, behind all of mankind's suffering and affliction. It is the part of our subconscious mind that wants to make our attachment to all that glitters more addicting so it can constantly subject us to its false reality. But what we have to remember is that during his short time on earth, Jesus taught about how to become more connected to our true spiritual self. And he did so by telling us to let go and let God be our source of wisdom and understanding. That is why I chose the title of this book The Carpenter's Path. Learning the secret to taking on this part of our nature is our only salvation for the future. So I am inviting you to join me on this journey of mine--a pilgrimage of seeking the truth to who you really are.

Book Enactive Cognition in Place

Download or read book Enactive Cognition in Place written by Miguel A. Sepúlveda-Pedro and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-01-01 with total page 230 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book aims to enrich our understanding of the role the environment plays in processes of life and cognition, from the perspective of enactive cognitive science. Miguel A. Sepúlveda-Pedro offers an unprecedented interpretation of the central claims of the enactive approach to cognition, supported by contemporary works of ecological psychology and phenomenology. The enactive approach conceives cognition as sense-making, a phenomenon emerging from the organizational nature of the living body that evolves in human beings through sensorimotor, intercorporeal, and linguistic interactions with the environment. From this standpoint, Sepúlveda-Pedro suggests incorporating three new theses into the theoretical body of the enactive approach: sense-making and cognition fundamentally consist of processes of norm development; the environment, cognitive agents actually interact with, is an active ecological field enacted in their historical past; and sense-making occurs in a domain consisting of multiple normative dimensions that the author names enactive place.
