Book Strategies to Improve Cardiac Arrest Survival

Download or read book Strategies to Improve Cardiac Arrest Survival written by Institute of Medicine and published by National Academies Press. This book was released on 2015-09-29 with total page 291 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Cardiac arrest can strike a seemingly healthy individual of any age, race, ethnicity, or gender at any time in any location, often without warning. Cardiac arrest is the third leading cause of death in the United States, following cancer and heart disease. Four out of five cardiac arrests occur in the home, and more than 90 percent of individuals with cardiac arrest die before reaching the hospital. First and foremost, cardiac arrest treatment is a community issue - local resources and personnel must provide appropriate, high-quality care to save the life of a community member. Time between onset of arrest and provision of care is fundamental, and shortening this time is one of the best ways to reduce the risk of death and disability from cardiac arrest. Specific actions can be implemented now to decrease this time, and recent advances in science could lead to new discoveries in the causes of, and treatments for, cardiac arrest. However, specific barriers must first be addressed. Strategies to Improve Cardiac Arrest Survival examines the complete system of response to cardiac arrest in the United States and identifies opportunities within existing and new treatments, strategies, and research that promise to improve the survival and recovery of patients. The recommendations of Strategies to Improve Cardiac Arrest Survival provide high-priority actions to advance the field as a whole. This report will help citizens, government agencies, and private industry to improve health outcomes from sudden cardiac arrest across the United States.

Book Basic Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Manual

Download or read book Basic Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Manual written by Jose Antonio Morales-Gonzalez and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2013-11-27 with total page 84 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of this publication is to systematize the knowledge necessary to make Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or Cardiorespiratory Resuscitation (CRR) known to nursing health specialists, which translates as a set of temporary and internationally standardized maneuvers assigned to ensure the oxygenation of the vital organs when the blood circulation of an individual stops suddenly, independently of the cause of the Cardiorespiratory arrest (CRA). This knowledge is found correctly delimited in The Basic Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Manual, which especially emphasizes the step-by-step methodology and techniques to follow for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). This is a basic work that cannot be overlooked by health care specialists, the society, and the public in general, because of the high probability that this situation will present at some moment in life. Thus, it is recommended to be prepared to help some person in an emergency situation. The manual is an excellent consultation work for health professionals. Given that what is expressed in this work is fundamental for life, and its objective is to make known the relevant information concerning the knowledge of CPR.

Book Report of the Working Group on Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation

Download or read book Report of the Working Group on Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation written by Scottish Health Service Advisory Council. Working Group on Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation and published by Bernan Press(PA). This book was released on 1993 with total page 46 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A significant number of victims of heart attacks could be saved if treatment was provided in time. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation, the procedure adopted following a cardiac arrest in order to maintain sufficient circulation to protect the vital organs, provides the means by which they can be kept alive until defibrillation can be given. The Working Group on Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) was appointed to examine the arrangements for the provision of training, both the public and health service staff, in CPR techniques and to make recommendations about future CPR training in Scotland where the death rates from coronary heart disease are the highest in the world. This report sets out their findings and recommendations.

Book Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation CPR

Download or read book Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation CPR written by Estelle J. Abrams and published by . This book was released on 1980 with total page 16 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Following the Reformation, a growing number of radical Protestants came together to live and worship in Catholic France. The Huguenots survived persecution and armed conflict to win freedom of worship, civil rights and unique status as a protected minority. In 1685, following renewed persecution, the Revocation of the Edict of Nantes abolished their remaining rights. Choosing faith over home, over 200,000 Huguenots fled across Europe and, soon, further afield. In this magnificent book, Geoffrey Treasure explores what it was like to be a Huguenot through their rise, survival and fall, from power politics to religious practice and the psychological pressures of living in a threatened 'state within a state'. Over a span of a century and a half he weaves together political and religious concerns, those of statesmen, feudal magnates and leading figures of the Catholic revival, a Catherine de Medici seeking compromise, a Louis XIV requiring unity, with the stories of ordinary citizens leading extraordinary lives.
