  • ISBN : 0195311191
  • Pages : 750 pages

Download or read book Nuclear Cardiac Imaging written by Ami E. Iskandrian and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2008-09-25 with total page 750 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nuclear cardiac imaging is the diagnostic technique of using radiology and chemical markers to track cardiac performance. These imaging studies provide a wide range of information about the heart, including how much the heart contracts, the amount of blood supply to the heart and whether parts of the heart muscle are alive or dead. This is essential information for cardiologists, and nuclear imaging has become an increasingly important part of the cardiologist's armoury of diagnostic techniques. Iskandrian's text has become a leading book in the field and the fourth edition will continue the tradition. The text is updated throughout to reflect the many advances in the field, and, as a new feature, each chapter concludes with a question and answer session on important and difficult clinical issues.

Book A Literature Review of the Cost effectiveness of Nuclear Medicine

Download or read book A Literature Review of the Cost effectiveness of Nuclear Medicine written by Jan Carter and published by . This book was released on 1995 with total page 112 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The aim of this study has been based to review published research to establish: what is known with regard to the cost- effectiveness of nuclear medicine procedures; from this knowledge, which procedures have high, medium and low probabilities of being proven to be cost-effective; from this research, which areas are likely to be the best for future work on efficacy and cost-effectiveness. In all, some 454 published papers were accessed. Of these 328 were reviewed for this study. The amount of published work using real cost-effectiveness analyses in nuclear medicine is small compared with the number of papers available on clinical issues. Many papers talked about costs and related them to cost-effectiveness without real analysis. This review of the literature points towards the potentially most rewarding areas for immediate work on cost-effectiveness as being: myocardial perfusion imaging in ischaemic heart disease; leucocyte scintigraphy in inflammatory bowel disease, renal scintigraphy.

Book Nuclear Cardiology

Download or read book Nuclear Cardiology written by International Atomic Energy Agency and published by . This book was released on 2016 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nuclear cardiology is one of the most widely used non-invasive techniques for the assessment of coronary artery disease and other cardiovascular conditions. It has proved to be a cost effective tool for the evaluation and management of cardiac patients and usually has a decisive role for diagnosis, prognosis and risk stratification. In particular, radionuclide myocardial perfusion imaging (MPI) is used extensively worldwide for the evaluation of known or suspected coronary artery disease, with an estimated 15-20 million procedures performed annually. This publication provides a detailed analysis of all the steps involved in the delivery of nuclear cardiology services, from referrals to reporting, and is intended to serve as guidance for the implementation, homogenization and enhancement of MPI practice in those Member States where the technique is under development.

Book A History of Radionuclide Studies in the UK

Download or read book A History of Radionuclide Studies in the UK written by Ralph McCready and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-04-25 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The British Nuclear Medicine Society celebrates its 50th Anniversary with this booklet, which reflects the research of many of the pioneers in the use of radionuclides for the diagnosis and therapy of human disease. Since 1949 there have been remarkable advances in radionuclide techniques and imaging equipment: from the first devices “home-made” in the many physics departments throughout the UK, to the sophisticated multimodality imagers now in everyday use in Nuclear Medicine. The BNMS has been instrumental in promoting the use of radionuclide techniques in the investigation of pathology by supporting and providing education, research and guidelines on the optimum use of radiation to help patients. The future of Nuclear Medicine is bright, thanks to improved imaging resolution, new radiopharmaceuticals, and new diagnostic and therapeutic techniques and procedures.
