Book Radical Innovations of Software and Systems Engineering in the Future

Download or read book Radical Innovations of Software and Systems Engineering in the Future written by Martin Wirsing and published by Springer. This book was released on 2004-03-03 with total page 368 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume contains the papers from the workshop “Radical Innovations of Software and Systems Engineering in the Future.” This workshop was the ninth in the series of Monterey Software Engineering workshops for formulating and advancing software engineering models and techniques, with the fundamental theme of increasing the practical impact of formal methods. During the last decade object orientation was the driving factor for new system solutions in many areas ranging from e-commerce to embedded systems. New modeling languages such as UML and new programming languages such as Java and CASE tools have considerably in?uenced the system development techniques of today and will remain key techniques for the near future. However, actual practice shows many de?ciencies of these new approaches: – there is no proof and no evidence that software productivity has increased with the new methods; – UML has no clean scienti?c foundations, which inhibits the construction of powerful analysis and development tools; – support for mobile distributed system development is missing; – formanyapplications,object-orienteddesignisnotsuitedtoproducingclean well-structured code, as many applications show.

Book A Methodology Specification Language and Automated Support Environment for Computer aided Design Systems

Download or read book A Methodology Specification Language and Automated Support Environment for Computer aided Design Systems written by Duane Robert Worley and published by . This book was released on 1986 with total page 244 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Computer-based systems are becoming increasingly complex and expensive, and there is a need for extensive design prior to embarking upon costly implementation phases. Many design tools and design techniques have been proposed and some have been built to stand alone. They are, at best, loosely integrated with other tools. They have much in common, notably the construction and manipulation of models of the complex system under design and a high degree of interactivity. A detailed study of areas of commonality guides the requirements definition of a computer-aided design of computer systems (CADOCS) support nucleus. The nucleus provides an integrated set of primitives. A specification language targeted to the support nucleus allows description of the design model and human-model interaction. This paper hypothesizes that it is possible to define a methodology, a specification language, and an automated support environment suitable to the systematic development and execution of CADOCS systems. The methodology is applied to UCLA's Systems Architect's Apprentice (SARA) system--the test bed--and the resulting SARA/IDEAS system serves as an existence proof for the hypothesis."--Rand abstracts

Book The Magikh Series

Download or read book The Magikh Series written by Khalif Aziz and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2012-06-30 with total page 138 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Black Phoenix is a novel written by thirteen-year-old Khalif Aziz . In the book, the male protagonist, who takes upon the likeness of the author himself, is a young sorcerer whose age is as old as the pyramids. The 5,672-year-old goes through a form of reincarnation in which he dies in one body and begins a new life in the body of either a direct descendant or a relative. As a sorcerer, he constantly battles the forces of Apep, an evil god that wishes to control not only this universe but all others and let chaos tip the balance that all of these universes rely on. Since Khalifaziz is a human, he must do this in secret while still trying to keep up his cover as a regular human. Cara Marino, the character's best friend, never learns of her friends' abilities (she has other friends who have abilities she doesn't know of as well) until the day that she is attacked by a black Bennu, or a black phoenix. Thus begins an adventure in which both magic and science are large players. Cara is the sister of Phineas Marino, a scientist who worked for the government, working on all sorts of top-secret projects. His most important one, a teleport that sends one into any computer's cyberspace and even into the Internet's cyberspace. Knowing that the government would soon want this project, he hid it from everyone except his little sister, Cara. Then another scientist created a virus, and they fused together in order to form Vesteria, an evil being bent on world domination. Cara and Phineas agree to make sure this never happens, seeing as how it was his invention that caused this trouble; however, Phineas can't fulfill his promise, seeing as he is now dead. Cara then decides to do it all on her own, but then she meets a boy named Khalifaziz, a student of the school built in place of the abandoned laboratory where Phineas worked on his machine in secret. Khalifaziz and his friend Matt decide to help Cara fight Vesteria, leaving out the fact that they are both sorcerers. It turns out that they fight Vesteria better than Cara was ever able to. Unfortunately for them, Apep and Vesteria are sick of losing. One day, after Cara is attacked by the phoenix, Vesteria tries to hack Cara's computer systems. When Cara, Matt, and Shadoe, princess of an alien people made completely out of chaotic energy, all go inside the computer, it is revealed that everyone's worst fears have been realized. Vesteria is working for Apep. Suddenly, Khalifaziz and his friends are thrown into a war that they never expected to happen. Now everything has changed. Now they can't afford to lose. Because this time, Apep has a powerful new ally. A combination of science fiction, Egyptology, physics, and magic, The Black Phoenix joins the ranks of global young adult' and children's literature.

Book Data Processing Handbook for Complex Biological Data Sources

Download or read book Data Processing Handbook for Complex Biological Data Sources written by Gauri Misra and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2019-03-23 with total page 188 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Data Processing Handbook for Complex Biological Data provides relevant and to the point content for those who need to understand the different types of biological data and the techniques to process and interpret them. The book includes feedback the editor received from students studying at both undergraduate and graduate levels, and from her peers. In order to succeed in data processing for biological data sources, it is necessary to master the type of data and general methods and tools for modern data processing. For instance, many labs follow the path of interdisciplinary studies and get their data validated by several methods. Researchers at those labs may not perform all the techniques themselves, but either in collaboration or through outsourcing, they make use of a range of them, because, in the absence of cross validation using different techniques, the chances for acceptance of an article for publication in high profile journals is weakened. Explains how to interpret enormous amounts of data generated using several experimental approaches in simple terms, thus relating biology and physics at the atomic level Presents sample data files and explains the usage of equations and web servers cited in research articles to extract useful information from their own biological data Discusses, in detail, raw data files, data processing strategies, and the web based sources relevant for data processing
