Download or read book Metolachlor written by Federal-Provincial Subcommittee on Drinking Water (Canada) and published by . This book was released on 1990 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Metolachlor is a chloracetanilide herbicide used in Canada primarily for the control of grasses in crops. This report describes the physical/chemical characteristics of metolachlor, its use & sources in the environment, environmental concentrations detected in water & food, analytical methods & water treatment technology, and health effects. It then presents a guideline for the maximum acceptable concentration of metolachlor in drinking water, along with the rationale for the guideline.

Download or read book Guidelines for Canadian Drinking Water Quality written by Federal-Provincial Subcommittee on Drinking Water (Canada) and published by Canadian Government Publishing. This book was released on 1996 with total page 94 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Editions of these guidelines are prepared following a thorough review of the scientific, technical and medical literature on new parameters and on parameters whose guidelines require revision. This 6th edition includes the guidelines approved by the Conference of Deputy Ministers of Health as of March 1995. No evidence has been presented that would warrant changing the values proposed in the last edition. These values have, therefore, been adopted and are presented in this edition as confirmed guidelines. The guidelines and recommendations listed are intended to apply to all drinking water supplies, public and private, however, they should not be regarded as legally enforceable standards unless promulgated as such by the appropriate agency. This document provides an explanation of terms, a description of microbiological characteristics, chemical and physical parameters, and radiological characteristics. It also includes a list of parameters under review or scheduled for review.

Book excerpt: Water quality guidelines and objectives are used by Canadian provincial, territorial, and federal agencies in their efforts to assess water quality problems and to manage competing uses of water resources. The guidelines in this document contain recommendations for chemical, physical, radiological, and biological parameters necessary to protect and enhance designated uses of water (drinking water supply, recreational water quality and aesthetics, freshwater aquatic life, agricultural uses, and industrial supplies). The guidelines apply only to inland surface waters and groundwaters. The rationale for each parameter is included to assist in the development of water quality objectives to suit local water conditions. Parameter-specific background information and a glossary are included.
