Book excerpt: Urology at a Glance is a concise, practical guide to diagnostic and therapeutic decision making. The book is divided into two parts. The first focuses on the pathway from symptom to diagnosis and covers the full range of symptoms commonly encountered by the urologist. Any particular symptom can be located within a matter of seconds and in each case differential diagnosis is explained with the aid of a flow chart. The second part of the book is devoted to the pathway from diagnosis to therapy, with each short chapter devoted to a specific diagnosis. Basic information is provided on the disease in question, along with an outline of state of the art treatment options and possible complications. Again, flow charts are used to help the reader to reach the correct therapeutic decision in different circumstances. Numerous high-definition photographs and illustrations are also included. This book will be a great asset for urologists and practitioners in related disciplines.

Download or read book Clinical Urology Illustrated written by R.B. Brown and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 611 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this precise and authoritative urological text Mr Ronald Brown and his associates have scored two firsts. In its emphasis throughout on the im portance of clinical assessment, history taking and physical examination, together with its wealth of illustrations, it offers a' unique view of genitourinary medicine; and it is the first clinical urology text to be written by an Australian. The authors' approach to their subject is ideal for students and physicians confronted with patients with genitourinary problems. The text is concise, the references valuable and the index comprehensive. I was particularly in terested in the chapter on Paediatric Urology with its admirably succinct of hypospadias, but the outstanding feature of the whole book discussion is the line drawings and illustrative x-rays, not only excellent in themselves but in their presentation: the clear uncrowded layout making it easy for the reader to consult the appropriate illustration nearby, and where helpful there has been no hesitation in using the same diagram in several different places. If my students know everything that's in this book they will know more than most urologists. It is especially gratifying to me to see this fine book emanate from Australia and to know that four of the authors have had their stimulus to excellence in work here at UCLA.
