Book Regia Aeronautica

Download or read book Regia Aeronautica written by Chris Dunning and published by Classic Publications. This book was released on 2010 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This new highly illustrated and comprehensive book covers the history of the Italian Regia Aeronautica (Italian Air Force) from 1940 to 1943—an area of aviation history of increasing interest to historians, enthusiasts, and modelers. The book covers the aircraft, camouflage, and markings of the various aviation arms of the Italian Regia Aeronautica. Its machines were invariably colorfully camouflaged for tropical and over-water use and richly emblazoned with individual, tactical, and unit markings, making for popular modeling subjects. They flew in several operational theatres between 1940 and 1943 including France, Belgium, Yugoslavia, Russia, and Greece, and produced a number of flying aces such as Teresio Martinoli, Franco Lucchini, Leonardo Ferrulli, and Franco Bordoni-Bisleri. All aircraft are covered—day fighters, bombers, dive-bombers and ground-attack units, and maritime and transport aircraft. This is an ideal volume of reference for aviation modelers, particularly those with a specific interest in Italian aviation.

Book French Aces of World War 2

Download or read book French Aces of World War 2 written by Barry Ketley and published by Osprey Publishing. This book was released on 1999-09-15 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: French pilots endured fighting both with and against the Allies during World War 2. Possessing obsolescent aircraft at the outbreak of the war, the Armée de l'Air was decimated in the wake of the Blitzkrieg; however, a number of fighter units still achieved creditable scores flying Curtiss Hawks, Morane MS.406s and Dewoitine D.520s. Following the capitulation of France at the end of June 1940, many aces continued to fly with the now Vichy French Squadrons that were stationed in North Africa, and a number of these pilots subsequently saw action against their former Allies there. Numerous French pilots also escaped to Britain, and a handful achieved notable sucess with the RAF flying Hurricanes, Spitfires and Tempests. In Russia, the formation of the French-manned 'Normandie-Niemen' regiment in 1943 also saw near on 40 pilots achieve ace status flying Yak fighters on the Eastern Front.

Book Luftwaffe Colours 1935 1945

Download or read book Luftwaffe Colours 1935 1945 written by Michael Ullmann and published by Hikoki Publications. This book was released on 2008 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Much has been written about the Luftwaffe, but no aspect has been more controversial than the question of camouflage and markings of the aircraft. Here, author Michael Ullmann follows the development and use of many colors and establishes the links betwen the then-standard RAL colors and those adopted by the German Air Ministry. He reveals how and why these finishes were developed and applied to both military and Lufthansa aircraft. Supplemented by more than 300 photographs, drawings, detailed color aircraft profiles, and a highly accurate chart of real paint chips, Luftwaffe Colours 1935-1945 presents a remarkable insight into the art of World War II German camouflage markings.

Book Junkers Ju 87

Download or read book Junkers Ju 87 written by Eddie J. Creek and published by . This book was released on 2012-06-07 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This large format hardback is packed with information on the Ju87 Stuka. Highly illustrated, it represents a comprehensive, detailed reference work to be used by enthusiasts and modelers for one-stop ease of access to information to one of the most well-known aircrafts of World War II. Unquestionably, the Junkers Ju 87 was one of the most devastatingly effective and psychologically terrifying weapons of war ever produced. The howl of its sirens during a dive-bombing attack struck fear into those on the ground. Spearheading the German advances in Poland, Norway, the Low Countries, the Mediterranean, and Russia between 1939 and 1943, the Luftwaffe's Ju 87 Stuka became synonymous with the art of Blitzkrieg warfare. Next to the fighter aces, it was perhaps the Stuka crews who were held in the highest esteem by both German commanders and the German people and their accomplishments became legendary. This will be the book sought after by aviation enthusiasts and modelers.

Book Courage Alone

Download or read book Courage Alone written by Chris Dunning and published by . This book was released on 2009 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Derided by Allied propaganda which made it out to be an air force equipped solely with elderly biplanes, ineffective in attack or always in retreat, the Regia Aeronautica was overshadowed by its more ruthless Axis partner, the Luftwaffe. Using research from a mass of original documentation, including personal accounts and combat diaries, the author takes an objective view and shows that the men who flew the Macchis, Fiats, and Savoias were no less skilled or determined than their opponents. The book discusses area commands, theaters, squadron allocations, anti-shipping operations, aircrew, and details of the top fighter aces. Comprehensive tables provide information on aircraft equipment, squadron allocation, and unit histories. With drawings from original aircraft handbooks, almost 250 photographs, more than 100 color profiles, and unit badges, Courage Alone provides a detailed reference source for historians, modelers, and enthusiasts alike.
