Book Communal Feminisms

Download or read book Communal Feminisms written by Gabriella Gutiérrez y Muhs and published by Lexington Books. This book was released on 2007 with total page 364 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Communal Feminisms explores identity and exile from three different perspectives: theory, interviews, and imaginative literature. The first part of this book describes and defines exile within identity; the second part delivers ten interviews and examines the socio-historical construction of exile through feminine Chicano literature and Chilean literature created and circulated during the Pinochet regime; and the third part contains a collection of unpublished, original works from each author interviewed. Including the interviews and creative works in both English and Spanish, Dr. Gabriella Gutierrez y Muhs emphasizes the need to publish bilingual works, without alienating English readers. This uniquely crafted collection will appeal to scholars across disciplines.

Book excerpt: Youth and the Politics of the Present presents a range of topical sociological investigations into various aspects of the everyday practices of young adults in different European contexts. Indeed, this volume provides an original and provocative investigation of various current central issues surrounding the effects of globalization and the directions in which Western societies are steering their future. Containing a wide range of empirical and comparative examples from across Europe, this title highlights how young adults are trying to implement new forms of understanding, interpretation and action to cope with unprecedented situations; developing new forms of relationships, identifications and belonging while they experience new and unprecedented forms of inclusion and exclusion. Download or read book Madrid s Forgotten Avant Garde written by Silvina Schammah Gesser and published by Liverpool University Press. This book was released on 2016-04-01 with total page 361 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book explores the role played by artists and intellectuals who constructed and disseminated various competing images of national identity which polarized Spanish society prior to the Civil War. The convergence of modern and essentialist discourses and practices, especially in literature and poetry, in what is conventionally called in Spanish letters "The Generation of '27", created fissures between competing views of aesthetics and ideology that cut across political affiliation. Silvina Schammah exposes the paradoxes facing Madrid's cultural vanguards, as they were torn by their ambition for universality, cosmopolitanism and transcendence on the one hand and by the centripetal forces of nationalistic ideologies on the other. Taking upon themselves roles to become the disseminators and populizers of radical positions and world-views first elaborated and conducted by the young urban intelligentsia, their proposed aim of incorporating diverse identities embedded in different cultural constructions and discourse was to have very real and tragic consequences as political and intellectual lines polarized in the years prior to the Spanish Civil War.

Book Working with Young People

Download or read book Working with Young People written by Xavier Úcar and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2020-02-28 with total page 265 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Working with Young People offers a new outlook on social, cultural, and educational work with young people. It utlizes the perspective of social pedagogy--a theoretical and practical perspective that has been developing in continental Europe over the last 150 years--in placing young people at the center of socio-educational work and giving value to their decisions and actions. The text supports youths' process of personal construction within the framework of the community in which they live. The book is organized into three large blocks of chapters. The introduction aims to prepare readers for the social pedagogy approach to work with young people. It briefly outlines its current situation in the world and, relate it to the main professions in which it is embodied in different socio-cultural contexts: social pedagogy, social education, and social work. The first block presents the framework and socio-pedagogical, theoretical, and practical parameters in which work with young people takes place in Europe and Latin America. The second block of chapters deals with youth policies and the training and professionalization of educators and those who work with young people. The last block focuses on some socio-educational practices with young people that include youth justice, social inclusion process, youth participation in digital life or transition to adult life. The book is based on a wide perspective of young people from cultural diversity.

Book Historia m nima La cultura mexicana en el siglo XX

Download or read book Historia m nima La cultura mexicana en el siglo XX written by Carlos Monsiváis and published by El Colegio de Mexico AC. This book was released on 2010-02-09 with total page 406 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
