Book Cambered Jet flapped Airfoil Theory with Tables and Computer Programs for Application

Download or read book Cambered Jet flapped Airfoil Theory with Tables and Computer Programs for Application written by Henry W. Woolard and published by . This book was released on 1977 with total page 166 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A quadrature method is derived for calculating the incompressible-flow aerodynamics of arbitrarily cambered jet-flapped airfoils. The anticipated application of the methodology is to high-speed subsonic flows (combat maneuvering aircraft) via the use of compressible-flow similarity transformations. The method yields the aerodynamic properties in terms of integrals having integrands which consist of the product of the camber-line ordinate and an influence function which is a parametric function of the jet-momentum coefficient. In general, the integrals involved must be evaluated by numerical methods. Tables of the necessary influence functions are given in the report.

Book The Determination of Unsteady Aerodynamics of a Two dimensional Jet flap Wing

Download or read book The Determination of Unsteady Aerodynamics of a Two dimensional Jet flap Wing written by Andrew R. Trenka and published by . This book was released on 1970 with total page 96 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One of the purposes of the study was to conduct wind-tunnel tests on a two-dimensional, oscillating, jet-flap airfoil to determine the unsteady forces, moments, and pressure distributions. These tests were to (1) provide data for testing the validity of the theoretical results, and (2) to furnish guide-lines for the further development of unsteady jet-flap airfoil theory. The study was also to extend the solutions to the general theoretical equations describing the unsteady motions of a jet-flapped airfoil executing simple harmonic pitching motions. The attainment of these objectives was pursued in three phases. The first consisted of the development, calibration and testing of the model and its recording system. The second phase dealt with the theoretical effort required to allow computation of the lift and moment acting on a two-dimensional jet-flap airfoil executing harmonic pitching motions. The third and final phase consisted of the correlation of theory and experiment and the assessment of the theory. (AUTHOR).

Book Morphing Wing Technologies

Download or read book Morphing Wing Technologies written by Sergio Ricci and published by Butterworth-Heinemann. This book was released on 2017-10-27 with total page 970 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Morphing Wings Technologies: Large Commercial Aircraft and Civil Helicopters offers a fresh look at current research on morphing aircraft, including industry design, real manufactured prototypes and certification. This is an invaluable reference for students in the aeronautics and aerospace fields who need an introduction to the morphing discipline, as well as senior professionals seeking exposure to morphing potentialities. Practical applications of morphing devices are presented—from the challenge of conceptual design incorporating both structural and aerodynamic studies, to the most promising and potentially flyable solutions aimed at improving the performance of commercial aircraft and UAVs. Morphing aircraft are multi-role aircraft that change their external shape substantially to adapt to a changing mission environment during flight. The book consists of eight sections as well as an appendix which contains both updates on main systems evolution (skin, structure, actuator, sensor, and control systems) and a survey on the most significant achievements of integrated systems for large commercial aircraft. - Provides current worldwide status of morphing technologies, the industrial development expectations, and what is already available in terms of flying systems - Offers new perspectives on wing structure design and a new approach to general structural design - Discusses hot topics such as multifunctional materials and auxetic materials - Presents practical applications of morphing devices
