Book Calling Men out of the Cave

Download or read book Calling Men out of the Cave written by Nigel Mohammed and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2015-12-04 with total page 104 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the time of Saul, the people of God were in a small minority in a context of spiritual decline, yet Jonathan, who had an abusive father, courageously called six hundred men who were hiding in caves onto the battlefield. The battle shifted for Gods people because of one mans outstanding courage. Through the onslaught of secularism, humanism, and related ideologies, the church is viewed by the culture to be irrelevant-, a bit like these men hiding in caves because of the odds that are against them. Is this because men have been under some kind of enchantment? Under a spell from the enemy, who is inherently intangible and has caused the decline of Western culture from a biblical worldview to individualism, whose central idea now is that society can be composed of individuals without a central values system and heritage holding them together? To destroy a nation, the enemy has tried to dismantle families and, thus, masculinity and femininity. Therefore, a historical father absence is ultimately a spiritual battle and must be seen as such. Jesus lived in a little platoon of twelve men, trained, invested in, and released them; therefore we have a proven model to follow, why then have men been in serious decline from the church? Mentors and spiritual fathers who know their calling are needed to produce men who will reproduce disciples who in turn will also be mentors and spiritual fathers with courage and vision to restore the broken foundations. The foundations have been progressively dismantled, but men are called to be the foundation by knowing that as followers of Jesus Christ, we are the beloved of God, and this can be a catalyst to finding and living our calling to live in His larger story together.

Book Men Are from Mars Women Are from Venus

Download or read book Men Are from Mars Women Are from Venus written by John Gray and published by Harper. This book was released on 1993-04-23 with total page 296 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Popular marriage counselor and seminar leader John Gray provides a unique, practical and proven way for men and women to communicate and relate better by acknowledging the differences between them. Once upon a time Martians and Venusians met, fell in love, and had happy relationships together because they respected and accepted their differences. Then they came to earth and amnesia set in: they forgot they were from different planets. Using this metaphor to illustrate the commonly occurring conflicts between men and women, Gray explains how these differences can come between the sexes and prohibit mutually fulfilling loving relationships. Based on years of successful counseling of couples, he gives advice on how to counteract these differences in communication styles, emotional needs and modes of behavior to promote a greater understanding between individual partners. Gray shows how men and women react differently in conversation and how their relationships are affected by male intimacy cycles ("get close", "back off"), and female self-esteem fluctuations ("I'm okay", "I'm not okay"). He encourages readers to accept the other gender's particular way of expressing love, and helps men and women learn how to fulfill each other's emotional needs. With practical suggestions on how to reduce conflict, crucial information on how to interpret a partner's behavior and methods for preventing emotional "trash from the past" from invading new relationships, Men Are from Mars, Women Are from Venus is a valuable tool for couples who want to develop deeper and more satisfying relationships with their partners.

Book People of the Bear Mother

Download or read book People of the Bear Mother written by T. D. Austin and published by Balboa Press. This book was released on 2012-08 with total page 592 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The most powerful shaman of the People of the Bear Mother invites a young woman to take her soul's great adventure by painting a new piece of animal art on the walls in the deepest chambers of the awesome Great Cave. The time has come for Little Bear to make the life-altering choice to overcome her fear of the terrifying old shaman, and in doing so, unalterably change all the lives her soul will subsequently experience even as her "lion eye" reappears in each lifetime to identify her avatar. But before she may embark on her hero's journey, she must be initiated as hunter and then as Seer through trials, ordeals, and the revelations of her people's mythology expressed in the art of the Cave. The tale builds to an unexpected climax as one soul experiences many lifetimes in a hunting culture where being born female or male, homosexual or heterosexual, young or old are equally valid ways of being human. Inspired by the work of Joseph Campbell and the artwork of France's 35,000-yearold Chauvet Cave, the novel takes a fresh look at, and is a new take on, the life-ways and religion of our earliest ancestors through Little Bear's encounters with shamans, hunters, avatars, and painted caves. This story reveals that the spiritual messages hidden within this magnificent, incredibly ancient art are the same metaphysical beliefs of the New Age and the same universal human truths at the heart of every world religion and mystical philosophy. 2011 Book Competition Finalist Awards: USA Best Book Awards for New Age Fiction; IBA for Chick Lit-Women's Fiction; IBA for Gay-Lesbian Fiction.

Book The Outlaws of Cave in Rock

Download or read book The Outlaws of Cave in Rock written by Otto A. Rothert and published by Ravenio Books. This book was released on 2015-01-08 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is intended to give the authentic story of the famous Cave-in-Rock of the lower Ohio River, as collected from historic and romantic sources, and to present verified accounts of the most notorious of those highwaymen and river pirates who in the early days of the middle West and South filled the Mississippi basin with the alarm and terror of their crimes and exploits. All the criminals herein treated made their headquarters at one time or another in this famous cavern. It became a natural, safe hiding-place for the pirates who preyed on the flatboat traffic before the days of steamboats. It came also to serve the same purpose for highwaymen infesting the old Natchez Trace and other land trails north and south. A century ago and more, its rock-ribbed walls echoed the drunken hilarity of villains and witnessed the death struggles of many a vanished man. Today this former haunt of criminals is as quiet as a tomb. Nothing is left in the Cave to indicate the outrages that were committed there in the olden days. This classic includes the following chapters: The Purpose of this Narrative The Lair of the Outlaws Piracy and Rough Life on the River The Harpes—A Terrible Frontier Story The Harpes—Renewal of the Terror The Harpes—Big Harpe’s Ride to Death The Harpes—Mysteries and Fate of Survivors Mason—Soldier, Pirate, Highwayman Mason—On the Natchez Trace Mason—Trapped and Tried Mason and Harpe—Double-Cross and Double Death Coiners at the Cave The Ford’s Ferry Mystery Paying the Penalty The Cave in Fiction

Excerpt: "Every winter the reindeer came to the wooded hills where the Cave-men lived. No matter how deep the snow, they always found food. Sometimes they stretched their slender necks and ate moss from the trees. Again they scraped up the snow with their forefeet and found dry grass. The reindeer liked cold weather. They liked the north wind that brought the snow. As soon as the snow began to melt, they started toward the mountains. In the high valleys among the mountains, there was snow all the year round."
