Book excerpt: While we were trained to be soldiers and I witnessed acts of bravery every day, we were still part of our generation; and our generation was closing down universities, protesting, and generally fucking up the country. Our country was as divided as it hadnt been since the Civil War. Us? We as soldiers were conflicted, torn between a culture that included everyone that you ever knew and the brothers that we served with. We grew our hair to the military limit, listened to music, carried on a personal protest about something or the other, and smoked pot. Racism was part of the inhuman view of our adversaries. Just as our fathers had called their enemies Japs and Krauts, we called ours Gooks. So the influence on eighteen-, nineteen-, and twenty-year-olds was kind of warped, especially if you spent most of your time in the bush. While I plead guilty of all of those things at eighteen, they are not what I became or what my returning brothers and sisters became. Every soldier has a story to tell, each with differ nuances, but the overall experience and attitudes were about the same. I saw bravery and craziness in every possible way. The bottom line, in my humble opinion, is that truth is stranger than fiction. While this account is fictional, the events are not. In truth, I dont do justice to what I observed and was a part of.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I'm the last person a secret government agency wants to call for help. I spend my days selling New Age trinkets to humans and my nights drinking with a street-hustling alchemist. Not exactly the law and order type. But when monsters from our childhood nightmares become flesh and blood, snatching people from the streets, I'm one of the few wizards alive who can uncover who's behind it. My past threatens to catch up with me, and I'm not sure I can outrun it. After losing my family in a fire and being whisked away by my caretaker to train at the Akashic Academy, my life was further turned upside down when I emerged from my final test to find three dead master wizards. Despite being cleared of all charges, most in my community believe I killed them. They call me the Wayward Wizard. I may be a black sheep among magic-users, but I deliver results. Which is why this secret agency has dragged me out of bed, slapped the bottle of whiskey out of my hand, and placed me with Alanna Reid. She's their best (and most uptight) agent who's been ordered to keep an eye on me and make sure I get the job done--or, put a bullet in me. But as good as Alanna is, even she may not be prepared for what's coming. And if I can't shut down the mysterious wizard wielding stolen powers, then I have a demigod looking over my shoulder, salivating at the thought of bringing on the Apocalypse as punishment. It's like the teacher penalizing the entire class for one asshat's actions, but on a cosmic level. Since I like living, the choice is clear. But something tells me that in unraveling the truth, I'll also have to face my own monsters, which can be just as deadly.

Book Elliott Potter and the Wizard s Stonepath

Download or read book Elliott Potter and the Wizard s Stonepath written by Aimwater and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2020-08-12 with total page 984 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When she discovered that Jim Morrison of The Doors read "The History of Magic" by Kurt Seligmann, she bought it. Though she's not a reader, she liked the illustrations and incorporated some of the characteristics of "Hermetic Conversation" in her cover, since the other picture, which inspired her from a 1960's Good Housekeeping magazine also had two people talking. In reference to her book, the twelve keys can be referred to the 12 months of the year, since she includes dates when she's writing. They can also be referred to the different journals she writes in that are being held like cards. The position of the stars were like the luck of the draw relating to agriculture back then, which is why I put the "cheddar" man wizard on the "basil" card, which looks like Stonehenge, for the cover. He also appears to be a flask used in alchemy to create the philosopher's tincture.
