Book Calculations of Analytical Chemistry

Download or read book Calculations of Analytical Chemistry written by Leicester F. Hamilton and published by Hamilton Press. This book was released on 2008-11 with total page 400 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: CALCULATIONS OF ANALYTICAL CHEMISTRY by LEICESTER F. HAMILTON, S. B. and STEPHEN G. SIMPSON. Originally published in 1922. PREFACE: The title of this book has been clfanged from Calculations of Quantitative Chemical Analysis to Calculations of Analytical Chem istry because the subject matter has been expanded to cover the stoichiometry of both qualitative and quantitative analysis. In order to include calculations usually covered in courses in qualitative analysis, some rearrangements of material have been made, new sections have been added, and chapters dealing with equilibrium constants and with the more elementary aspects of analytical . calculations have been considerably expanded. Al together, the number of sections has been increased from 78 to 114 and the number of problems from 766 to 1,032. The greater part of the book is still devoted to the calculations of quantitative analysis. Short chapters on conductometric and amperometric titrations and a section on calibration of weights have been added, and many other changes and additions have been made at various points in the text. A section reviewing the use of logarithms has been inserted, and a table of molecular weights covering most of the problems in the book is included in the Appendix. It is felt that every phase of general analytical chemistry is adequately covered by problems, both with and without answers, and that most of the problems require reasoning on the part of the student and are not solved by simple substitution in a formula. Book Problems of Instrumental Analytical Chemistry Second Edition

Download or read book Problems of Instrumental Analytical Chemistry Second Edition written by Jose Manuel Andrade-Garda and published by World Scientific Publishing Europe Limited. This book was released on 2023-10-30 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book is intended as a tool for undergraduate students. As European Universities converged to the EEES Bologna space, the time available for theoretical and practical lessons at the classroom has reduced dramatically. The fundamental principles and basic theory of Analytical Chemistry, are covered by many wonderful textbooks but the numerical part is not so. Although it is true that many of them present some worked examples, the students need more support. Indeed many teachers observed a serious decline in the calculation capabilities of their students. This book is intended to help undergraduate students of Instrumental Analytical Chemistry to develop strategies to generate information from experimental results in an efficient and reliable way. The exercises will provide standard protocols that students can follow to address the most common calculation steps required in laboratory daily work. It is assumed that they will use the hands-on guide after the basic principles of the analytical techniques were presented in their classes. Easy-to-follow diagrams are included to facilitate understanding of the calculations and avoid common errors. As a novelty, QR codes are inserted into the text to offer additional extra information and/or links to reputed websites with additional explanations and/or computer animations. This new feature is a distinctive one, very rare in scientific or teaching-oriented books.

The chapters are arranged in a logical sequence, identifying almost every equilibrium scenario that an analytical chemist is likely to encounter. The spreadsheet calculations and graphics offer an excellent solution to otherwise time-consuming operations. Worked examples are included throughout the book, and student-tested problems are featured at the end of each chapter. Spreadsheet commands for QuattroPro, Quattro, and Lotus 1-2-3 are embedded in the text. Concepts & Calculations in Analytical Chemistry: A Spreadsheet Approach has been designed to serve both as a supplement to an undergraduate quantitative analysis course or as a text in a graduate-level advanced analytical chemistry course. Professional chemists will also find this to be an excellent introduction to spreadsheet applications in the lab and a modern overview of analytical chemistry in a self-study format.

Book Measurement Uncertainty in Chemical Analysis

Download or read book Measurement Uncertainty in Chemical Analysis written by Paul De Bièvre and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 294 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is now becoming recognized in the measurement community that it is as important to communicate the uncertainty related to a specific measurement as it is to report the measurement itself. Without knowing the uncertainty, it is impossible for the users of the result to know what confidence can be placed in it; it is also impossible to assess the comparability of different measurements of the same parameter. This volume collects 20 outstanding papers on the topic, mostly published from 1999-2002 in the journal "Accreditation and Quality Assurance." They provide the rationale for why it is important to evaluate and report the uncertainty of a result in a consistent manner. They also describe the concept of uncertainty, the methodology for evaluating uncertainty, and the advantages of using suitable reference materials. Finally, the benefits to both the analytical laboratory and the user of the results are considered.

Download or read book Calculations in Chemistry written by John Olusina Obimakinde and published by Techsar Pvt. Ltd.. This book was released on 2014-06-19 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Calculations in Chemistry is intended to help students overcome the challenges associated with solving the numerical problems in chemistry. Chemistry is a numerical science which cannot be fully appreciated without adequate numerical skills. In fact, the lack of problem-solving skills has been recognised as one of the major reasons for the poor performance recorded in the subject over the years. Budgetary and size constraints often translate to lack of space for solving enough sample problems in core textbooks and most problems are presented in a difficult manner that douses enthusiasm for learning. Thus, a book of this nature, containing numerous solved problems drawn from all aspects of chemistry, is necessary to complement the core texts if students are to attain the required level of mastery in the subject. Meant specifically for students studying chemistry at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, this book presents the calculations in chemistry in a simple, logical and down-to-earth manner that will impart students with the required numerical skills for excelling in chemistry. wide topical coverage clear, concise introductions that explain basic principles and theoretical basis for each type of calculation numerous representative examples practice problems and answers to test what has been explained end-of-chapter summary that gives a checklist of key terms and concepts numerous exercises, including objective questions, with answers exhaustive coverage of the mole concept use of SI units and IUPAC conventions it assumes little or no prior knowledge of chemistry and mathematics comprehensive treatment of quantitative analysis appendices that supply useful information
