Book Thermodynamic Properties of Organic Compounds

Download or read book Thermodynamic Properties of Organic Compounds written by George J. Janz and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 262 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Thermodynamic Properties of Organic Compounds: Estimation Methods, Principles and Practice, Revised Edition focuses on the progression of practical methods in computing the thermodynamic characteristics of organic compounds. Divided into two parts with eight chapters, the book concentrates first on the methods of estimation. Topics presented are statistical and combined thermodynamic functions; free energy change and equilibrium conversions; and estimation of thermodynamic properties. The next discussions focus on the thermodynamic properties of simple polyatomic systems by statistical thermodynamic methods. Discussed are molecular energy of an ideal gas; partition function and thermodynamic properties; and calculation of statistical thermodynamic functions. The book also notes the dynamic properties of long chain hydrocarbons and the method of structural similarity. Tabulations and numerical representations are presented as well. Discussions also focus on methods of group contributions and group equations. Included are paraffins, unsaturated carbons, cyclic hydrocarbons, and nonhydrocarbon groups. The last part of the text focuses on heat formation and heat capacity; the applications of thermodynamic method; and numerical data. Included in the discussions are bond energies and binding energies; gaseous free radicals and ions; and hydrogenation of benzene. The book is an important source of data for readers interested in studying the thermodynamic characteristics of organic compounds.

Book Cap A Computer Code for Generating Tabular Thermodynamic Functions from NASA Lewis Coefficients Revised

Download or read book Cap A Computer Code for Generating Tabular Thermodynamic Functions from NASA Lewis Coefficients Revised written by National Aeronautics and Space Adm Nasa and published by Independently Published. This book was released on 2018-09-23 with total page 88 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For several decades the NASA Glenn Research Center has been providing a file of thermodynamic data for use in several computer programs. These data are in the form of least-squares coefficients that have been calculated from tabular thermodynamic data by means of the NASA Properties and Coefficients (PAC) program. The source thermodynamic data are obtained from the literature or from standard compilations. Most gas-phase thermodynamic functions are calculated by the authors from molecular constant data using ideal gas partition functions. The Coefficients and Properties (CAP) program described in this report permits the generation of tabulated thermodynamic functions from the NASA least-squares coefficients. CAP provides considerable flexibility in the output format, the number of temperatures to be tabulated, and the energy units of the calculated properties. This report provides a detailed description of input preparation, examples of input and output for several species, and a listing of all species in the current NASA Glenn thermodynamic data file.Zehe, Michael J. and Gordon, Sanford and McBride, Bonnie J.Glenn Research CenterCOMPUTER PROGRAMS; HEAT OF FORMATION; THERMODYNAMICS; ENTROPY; SPECIFIC HEAT; TABLES (DATA); COEFFICIENTS

Book Molecular Thermodynamics

Download or read book Molecular Thermodynamics written by James W. Whalen and published by Wiley-Interscience. This book was released on 1991-05-13 with total page 408 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Seeking to introduce molecular thermodynamics in a way that is more congruent with the present day, it approaches the subject from a statistical basis, rather than traditional phenomenological bulk phase behavior and continuum mechanics arguments. Thus, topics are discussed in a different sequence than is encountered in more traditional texts; the presentation of material begins with the molecular argument and later expands to bulk phase behavior. Chapters cover thermal and mechanical processes, structured particle systems and interacting particle systems, multicomponent systems, macroscopic process considerations, electrolyte systems, and more. Worked examples and end-of-chapter problems are included.

Book Structure of Molecules and Internal Rotation

Download or read book Structure of Molecules and Internal Rotation written by San-Ichiro Mizushima and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 255 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Structure of Molecules and Internal Rotation reviews early studies on dihalogenoethanes. This book is organized into two parts encompassing 8 chapters that evaluate the Raman effect in ethane derivatives, the energy difference between rotational isomers, and the infrared absorption of ethane derivatives. Some of the topics covered in the book are the potential barrier to internal rotation; nature of the hindering potential; entropy difference between the rotational isomers; internal rotation in butane, pentane, and hexane; and internal rotation in long chain n-paraffins. Other chapters deal with the configuration of a polypeptide chain, as well as the sum rule and the product rule for rotational isomers. The normal vibrations of the 1,2-dihalogenoethanes are presented. The last chapters are devoted to the examination of the Raman effect, dielectric constant, and electron diffraction. The book can provide useful information to chemists, physicists, students, and researchers.
