Dans la méthode développée, les domaines acoustiques intérieurs et extérieurs sont modélisés séparément par une technique d'éléments finis de frontières, et reliés par une condition de continuité de la pression et de la vitesse à la traversée des ouvertures. La résolution numérique donne la pression sur les parois internes et externes de la structure ainsi que la vitesse acoustique aux ouvertures. La pression acoustique rayonnée en tout point extérieur ou intérieur à la structure s'en déduit par la formule intégrale de Helmholtz. L'avantage de cette méthode est d'être particulièrement bien adaptée aux structures d'épaisseur non négligeable. Une comparaison numérique et une validation expérimentale ont été effectuées. Elles permettent de conclure positivement sur la capacité du modèle à calculer correctement le rayonnement acoustique d'une structure d'épaisseur faible ou moyenne comprenant des ouvertures. Après validation, une exploitation du modèle a été entreprise avec une prise en compte de matériau absorbant, de type laine de roche, à l'intérieur de la cavité

In particular, the associated radionuclides can be of natural terrestrial origin, such as the decay products of radon gas, or they can e cosmogenic, such as beryllium-7. Chapters written by experts in the field shed light on theoretical as well as experimental aspects of research carried out since the discovery of flexoelectricity. Besides a common macroscopic (continuum) description the microscopic theory of flexoelectricity is also addressed. Electro-optic effects due to or modified by flexoelectricity as well as various (direct and indirect) measurement methods are discussed. Special emphasis is given to the role of flexoelectricity in pattern-forming instabilities. While the main focus of the book lies in flexoelectricity in nematic liquid crystals, peculiarities of other mesophases (bent-core systems, cholesterics, and smectics) are also reviewed. Flexoelectricity has relevance to biological (living) systems and can also offer possibilities for technical applications. The basics of these two interdisciplinary fields are also summarized.
