What we discovered, through genealogy, was a family whose bloodline is one of the most royal in Europe, from a Roman Senator to an Episcopal Bishop, to eight kings. Our family thought they were fishermen, from the lowlands of Scotland. This book is the story of our discovery, a shocking and magnificent discovery.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Tucson Artifacts have been a controversial topic in numerous documentaries on the History Channel as well as mentioned in many recent books, as proof of maritime travel and transoceanic cultural influence. This book not only looks at the many issues connected to this incredible discovery, but also delves into the origin of the artifacts, who these people were, how they got here, their history, and even the geology of the Tucson Basin, as well as climate history, along with ancient Indian legends from four tribes, describing these ancient travelers, investigations from a French archeologist, and the summaries of our hidden history including some reasons why the truth seems so difficult to obtain. Amazing new technology is presented in the research from a historian/genealogist presenting a royal bloodline of Rhadanite Kings from Septimania, with Davidic ties, Roman traders, mining Arizona's riches, for the revival of the medieval Roman Empire. Current technology and changes in our institutions have opened the doors to this beautiful story, when people lived in peace, accepting each other's differences, and even won over their conquerors, displaying the strengths of many kings and centuries of amazing cultures, finding each other and enjoying the beauty of the American paradise, the Southwest.

The book develops topics from novel and/or unifying perspectives. Hence, it is also a valuable resource for graduate teaching assistants developing their academic and pedagogical skills and for seasoned veterans who appreciate fresh perspectives. The explorations, problems, and projects in the book impart a deeper understanding of and facility with the mathematical reasoning that lies at the heart of calculus and conveys something of its beauty and depth. A high level of rigor is maintained. However, with few exceptions, proofs depend only on tools from calculus and earlier. Analytical arguments are carefully structured to avoid epsilons and deltas. Geometric and/or physical reasoning motivates challenging analytical discussions. Consequently, the presentation is friendly and accessible to students at various levels of mathematical maturity. Logical reasoning skills at the level of proof in Euclidean geometry suffice for a productive use of the book.

Book 4 Manifolds and Kirby Calculus

Download or read book 4 Manifolds and Kirby Calculus written by Robert E. Gompf and published by American Mathematical Society. This book was released on 2023-08-10 with total page 576 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since the early 1980s, there has been an explosive growth in 4-manifold theory, particularly due to the influx of interest and ideas from gauge theory and algebraic geometry. This book offers an exposition of the subject from the topological point of view. It bridges the gap to other disciplines and presents classical but important topological techniques that have not previously appeared in the literature. Part I of the text presents the basics of the theory at the second-year graduate level and offers an overview of current research. Part II is devoted to an exposition of Kirby calculus, or handlebody theory on 4-manifolds. It is both elementary and comprehensive. Part III offers in-depth treatments of a broad range of topics from current 4-manifold research. Topics include branched coverings and the geography of complex surfaces, elliptic and Lefschetz fibrations, $h$-cobordisms, symplectic 4-manifolds, and Stein surfaces. The authors present many important applications. The text is supplemented with over 300 illustrations and numerous exercises, with solutions given in the book. I greatly recommend this wonderful book to any researcher in 4-manifold topology for the novel ideas, techniques, constructions, and computations on the topic, presented in a very fascinating way. I think really that every student, mathematician, and researcher interested in 4-manifold topology, should own a copy of this beautiful book. —Zentralblatt MATH This book gives an excellent introduction into the theory of 4-manifolds and can be strongly recommended to beginners in this field … carefully and clearly written; the authors have evidently paid great attention to the presentation of the material … contains many really pretty and interesting examples and a great number of exercises; the final chapter is then devoted to solutions of some of these … this type of presentation makes the subject more attractive and its study easier. —European Mathematical Society Newsletter

Book Semantics of the Probabilistic Typed Lambda Calculus

Download or read book Semantics of the Probabilistic Typed Lambda Calculus written by Dirk Draheim and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-02-28 with total page 222 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book takes a foundational approach to the semantics of probabilistic programming. It elaborates a rigorous Markov chain semantics for the probabilistic typed lambda calculus, which is the typed lambda calculus with recursion plus probabilistic choice. The book starts with a recapitulation of the basic mathematical tools needed throughout the book, in particular Markov chains, graph theory and domain theory, and also explores the topic of inductive definitions. It then defines the syntax and establishes the Markov chain semantics of the probabilistic lambda calculus and, furthermore, both a graph and a tree semantics. Based on that, it investigates the termination behavior of probabilistic programs. It introduces the notions of termination degree, bounded termination and path stoppability and investigates their mutual relationships. Lastly, it defines a denotational semantics of the probabilistic lambda calculus, based on continuous functions over probability distributions as domains. The work mostly appeals to researchers in theoretical computer science focusing on probabilistic programming, randomized algorithms, or programming language theory.

Download or read book The Calculus Collection written by Caren L. Diefenderfer and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2010-12-31 with total page 529 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Calculus Collection is a useful resource for everyone who teaches calculus, in high school or in a 2- or 4-year college or university. It consists of 123 articles, selected by a panel of six veteran high school teachers, each of which was originally published in Math Horizons, MAA Focus, The American Mathematical Monthly, The College Mathematics Journal, or Mathematics Magazine. The articles focus on engaging students who are meeting the core ideas of calculus for the first time. The Calculus Collection is filled with insights, alternate explanations of difficult ideas, and suggestions for how to take a standard problem and open it up to the rich mathematical explorations available when you encourage students to dig a little deeper. Some of the articles reflect an enthusiasm for bringing calculators and computers into the classroom, while others consciously address themes from the calculus reform movement. But most of the articles are simply interesting and timeless explorations of the mathematics encountered in a first course in calculus.

Book Pre Calculus Calculus and Beyond

Download or read book Pre Calculus Calculus and Beyond written by Hung-Hsi Wu and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2020-10-26 with total page 417 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the last of three volumes that, together, give an exposition of the mathematics of grades 9–12 that is simultaneously mathematically correct and grade-level appropriate. The volumes are consistent with CCSSM (Common Core State Standards for Mathematics) and aim at presenting the mathematics of K–12 as a totally transparent subject. This volume distinguishes itself from others of the same genre in getting the mathematics right. In trigonometry, this volume makes explicit the fact that the trigonometric functions cannot even be defined without the theory of similar triangles. It also provides details for extending the domain of definition of sine and cosine to all real numbers. It explains as well why radians should be used for angle measurements and gives a proof of the conversion formulas between degrees and radians. In calculus, this volume pares the technicalities concerning limits down to the essential minimum to make the proofs of basic facts about differentiation and integration both correct and accessible to school teachers and educators; the exposition may also benefit beginning math majors who are learning to write proofs. An added bonus is a correct proof that one can get a repeating decimal equal to a given fraction by the “long division” of the numerator by the denominator. This proof attends to all three things all at once: what an infinite decimal is, why it is equal to the fraction, and how long division enters the picture. This book should be useful for current and future teachers of K–12 mathematics, as well as for some high school students and for education professionals.
