Book Cancer associated fibroblasts CAFs based model reveals potential for predicting bladder cancer patients prognoses and immunotherapy responses

Download or read book Cancer associated fibroblasts CAFs based model reveals potential for predicting bladder cancer patients prognoses and immunotherapy responses written by Mengyuan Dong and published by OAE Publishing Inc.. This book was released on 2024-02-19 with total page 16 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Aim: The purpose of this study is to enhance the understanding of bladder cancer and the role of cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) in its progression. We aim to identify CAF-specific biomarkers and develop a prognostic prediction model based on CAFs, thereby contributing to the advancement of treatment strategies and the identification of prognostic and predictive biomarkers for bladder cancer. Method: We employed single-cell RNA sequencing to detect biomarkers for CAFs in bladder cancer cells. Bladder cancer cohorts were categorized into low- and high-CAF groups using the ssGSEA algorithm. The study also explored the association between CAF-related scores, immune-related cells, and immune checkpoint-related genes. Furthermore, we performed GSVA analysis to understand the biological features of CAFs and their link to various cancer-related pathways. Result: Ten genes were identified as CAF markers in bladder cancer cells. A significant difference was found with 2712 differentially expressed genes between low-CAF and high-CAF tissues. The CAFs-based prognostic prediction model included nine genes (ALDH1L2, AL450384.2, EMP1, LINC02362, WFIKKN1, GOLGA8A, POU5F1, AL354919.2, PTPRR), which are potentially crucial in predicting bladder cancer prognosis. The GSVA analysis revealed the involvement of several cancer-related pathways, such as WNT, toll-like receptor, TGF-beta, MAPK, and MTOR signaling pathways, in the CAFs-based prognostic model. Conclusion: This study highlights the significant role of CAFs in the progression and prognosis of bladder cancer. The identified CAF biomarkers and the constructed prognostic model provide valuable insights for future research and potential therapeutic targets. CAF-dependent pathways are promising for the development of new treatments and improving the prognosis of bladder cancer patients.

Gastrointestinal cancers include esophageal cancer, gastric cancer, colorectal cancer, pancreatic cancer, and liver cancer, which all, except the last one, are covered in this volume. The fourth volume of the “Interdisciplinary Cancer Research” series, entitled “Gastrointestinal Cancers: An Interdisciplinary Approach” publishes comprehensive volumes on mechanisms of gastrointestinal cancers and novel immunotherapy opportunities and presents the most updated and peer-reviewed chapters on gastrointestinal cancers therapy. This interdisciplinary series is of special value to researchers working on cell biology, immunology, biochemistry, genetics, and practitioners working on oncology and gastroenterology. This is the main concept of Cancer Immunology Project (CIP), which is a part of Universal Scientific Education and Research Network (USERN). This interdisciplinary book will be of special value for researchers, oncologists, and gastroenterologists who wish to extend their knowledge on gastrointestinal cancers.

Book Tumor Microenvironment New Insights

Download or read book Tumor Microenvironment New Insights written by Ahmed Lasfar and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2023-11-22 with total page 126 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book offers outstanding approaches to understanding the role of the tumor microenvironment (TME) in cancer development and metastasis. The TME, with its multifaced role, is fundamental in the control and exacerbation of almost all cancer types. The outcome of many solid tumors is dependent on the modulation of the TME. Local tumor immunity, which is crucial in the control of cancer promotion, is one of the leading compounds of the TME. This book presents new insights and provides detailed and updated descriptions of the role of the TME in the control and the development of almost all cancer types. This book is an authentic source of knowledge, useful for researchers, medical doctors, students, and all individuals interested in understanding the mechanisms of cancer control and development.

Book Molecular Biomarkers for Gastric Cancer 2nd edition

Download or read book Molecular Biomarkers for Gastric Cancer 2nd edition written by Kecheng Zhang and published by Frontiers Media SA. This book was released on 2024-07-31 with total page 394 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Gastric cancer (GC) represents a serious health problem on a global scale. Despite some recent advances in the field, the prognosis in GC remains poor. A better understanding of molecular biology, which would lead to improved treatment options, is needed. Many potential biomarkers of prognostic significance have been identified. However, inhibition of only HER2 protein has led to a modest survival benefit. A deeper understanding of the pathogenesis and biological features of gastric cancer, including the identification and characterization of diagnostic, prognostic, predictive, and therapeutic biomarkers, hopefully will provide improved clinical outcomes. This Research Topic aims to provide a comprehensive overview on recent progress in emerging molecular biomarkers for gastric cancer. We welcome the submission of Review and Original Research articles covering, but not limited to, the following topics: 1)Novel diagnostic molecules to improve the early detection rate for gastric cancer 2)Novel prognostic molecules to stratify gastric cancer patients into different risk 3)Novel therapeutic biomarker which could serve as target for treating gastric cancer 4)Novel biomarker to predict chemotherapy response of gastric cancer patients
