This book was released on 2002 with total page 32 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has recommended that states develop Pesticide Management Plans for four agricultural chemicals - alachlor, atrazine, metolachlor, and simazine - used in Utah as herbicides in the production of corn and sorghum, and to control weeds and undesired vegetation (such as along right-of-ways or utility substations). This report and accompanying maps are intended to be used as part of these Pesticide Management Plans to provide local, state, and federal government agencies and agricultural pesticide users with a base of information concerning sensitivity and vulnerability of ground water in the basin-fill aquifer (bedrock is not evaluated) to agricultural pesticides in Cache Valley, Cache County, Utah. We used existing data to produce pesticide sensitivity and vulnerability maps by applying an attribute ranking system specifically tailored to the western United States using Geographic Information System analysis methods. 28 pages + 2 plates

Book AQUIFER STORAGE AND RECOVERY IN MILLVILLE CACHE COUNTY UTAH

Download or read book AQUIFER STORAGE AND RECOVERY IN MILLVILLE CACHE COUNTY UTAH written by Paul Inkenbrandt and published by Utah Geological Survey. This book was released on 2016-08-15 with total page 94 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study is an investigation of the feasibility of an aquifer storage and recovery project using the existing water supply infrastructure of the city of Millville, Utah. The project involved injecting water from a public water supply spring into a public water supply well. Geochemical analysis indicates that the major ion chemistry of the spring water is very similar to that of the principal aquifer, however, the spring water would likely cause minor geochemical changes in the groundwater due to oxidation. The study also showed that the injection well had elevated nitrate concentration which is likely due to septic systems in the area. Overall, the pilot tests showed that injection of water for storage would not be detrimental to the principal aquifer, which has significant storage abilities beyond the capacity of Millville’s water system; however elevated nitrate in the aquifer is a problem that should be addressed.

In Last Unspoiled Place, the magnificent confines of Logan Canyon, Utah, prove the perfect landscape for exploring these beliefs. In brilliant photographs and vivid anecdotes that range from poignant to exhilarating to hilarious, author Michael Sweeney takes us on an unforgettable tour through the canyon's unsullied terrain. As he marks the 41 miles of the national scenic byway that courses through, he reveals Logan's vivid past and astonishing natural history--as well as its closely kept secrets. Anecdotes range from bull snakes to bank robbers, from a legendary witch to the curse of "green invaders," and from the first known human inhabitants--the northwestern Shoshone--to current-day characters such as snowboarders, beekeepers, botanists, and whitewater hounds. In the National Geographic tradition, Last Unspoiled Place is richly illustrated with scores of photographs--both current and historic--that capture the beauty of Logan Canyon and the surrounding Cache Valley. Filled with excitement and brimming with eloquent stories, more than a trip through a canyon, this book is a natural choice for Father's Day and other gift-giving occasions.
