Book Cab Roof Strength Evaluation Dynamic Loading Heavy Trucks

Download or read book Cab Roof Strength Evaluation Dynamic Loading Heavy Trucks written by Truck Crashworthiness Committee and published by . This book was released on 2004 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This SAE Recommended Practice describes the test procedures for conducting dynamic cab roofstrength tests for heavy-truck applications. Its purpose is to establish recommended test procedures which will standardize the procedure for heavy trucks. Descriptions of the test set-up, test instrumentation,photographic/video coverage, and the test fixtures are included. In 1998, SAE J2422 and J2423 were both issued. These RPs addressed test procedures for evaluating the roof strength of heavy trucks. The difference between the two was how the roof load was imposed. SAE J2422 applied a quasi-static load to the cab roof where as SAE J2421 applied a dynamic impact. In 2003, SAE J2422 incorporated pass-fail condictions that paralleled ECE Regulation 29. These also included a defined quasi-static roof load to be applied to the roof. At the same time, SAE J2423 was also changed to reflect some of the ECE Regulation 29 conditions, but did not establish a prescribed magnitude of the energy to be applied to the roof. In section 10 (Performance Requirements) of SAE J2423, it also states "This test procedure is for the purpose of informational studies only and is not an alternative to SAE J2422 due to the lack of the prescirbed magnitude of energy applied to the roof of the vehicle in the second impact." Since SAE J2423 is no longer an alternative to SAE J2422, there is no reason to keep both procedures active. Therefore it is recommended that SAE J2423 by cancelled as an active SAE RP.

Book Cab Roof Strength EvaluationQuasi Static Loading Heavy Trucks

Download or read book Cab Roof Strength EvaluationQuasi Static Loading Heavy Trucks written by Truck Crashworthiness Committee and published by . This book was released on 2010 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This SAE Recommended Practice describes the test procedures for conducting quasi-static cab roof strength tests for heavy-truck applications. Its purpose is to establish recommended test procedures which will standardize the procedure for heavy trucks. Descriptions of the test set-up, test instrumentation, photographic/video coverage, and the test fixtures are included. Added the option to use a more readily available manikin when assessing the test cab intrusion into the occupant survival space. The new manikin options are very similar to the current ECE regulation requirement and will have no signification affect on the result of the assessment.

Book Heavy Truck 180 dynamic Rollover and Static Roof Crush Simulation

Download or read book Heavy Truck 180 dynamic Rollover and Static Roof Crush Simulation written by and published by . This book was released on 1996 with total page 250 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report describes the work performed by Failure Analysis Associates, Inc. (FaAA), in Phase II of the SAE Heavy Truck Crashworthiness project. FaAA was charged with developing a computer model of a typical heavy-truck cab, verifying the cab's structural characteristics via comparison with actual test data, and using the model to evaluate performance of the baseline cab and a modified version in a simulated rollover accident.

Book Vehicle Roof Strength Test Procedure

Download or read book Vehicle Roof Strength Test Procedure written by Impact and Rollover Test Procedures Standards Committee and published by . This book was released on 1997 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This SAE Recommended Practice establishes a uniform laboratory test method to evaluate the strength characteristics of roof systems. The test procedure is intended to provide reliable and repeatable results and to permit numerical comparisons. A test is conducted in which the vehicle roof system is loaded under controlled laboratory conditions. Structural strength measurements are obtained under load application angles chosen to concentrate forces on the forward portions of the roof panel and roof supporting structure.

Book Human Factors and Design

Download or read book Human Factors and Design written by Yuri Spirochkin and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-02-27 with total page 231 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book describes various manifestations of human factors when interacting with potentially dangerous technical systems: airplanes, launch vehicles and spaceships, nuclear power plants, energy-saturated ground vehicles and infrastructure facilities. The idea of the book arose from the desire to find a common ground between industries that are important for safety. Their similarity lies, in addition to the technological advancement of products and solutions, in equally high safety requirements, in particular taking into account the influence of human factor. Thus, it is of relevance to analyze an impact of human factor in the context of safety. The matter is rather complex: on the one hand humans manage technical systems, on the other hand human errors, negligence or evil intentions can turn the system into a threat with disastrous consequences. However, human interaction with any technical system begins earlier – in the design stage. In this stage, designer, being creator of the system, must ensure a safe operation and take into consideration possible risks, including those caused by human factors itself. The book is interdisciplinary in nature and intended mainly for designers of technical systems, aiming to assist the specialists in understanding the issues of human participation in life cycle of these systems. The examples given are intended to benefit from experiences of not one, but a number of industries.
