Book Regulation of Gene Expression in Enteropathogenic Bacteria Volume II

Download or read book Regulation of Gene Expression in Enteropathogenic Bacteria Volume II written by Dongsheng Zhou and published by Frontiers Media SA. This book was released on 2021-01-22 with total page 516 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Following the success of this Research Topic http://journal.frontiersin.org/ researchtopic/3298/regulation-of-gene-expression-in-enteropathogenic-bacteria, we are happy to launch a second edition of the project. Pathogenic bacteria have evolved numerous strategies to survive in and to attack hosts, which can be reflected by transcriptional and posttranscriptional changes in specific genes especially including those encoding virulence determinants. Regulation of gene expression by regulatory proteins and non-coding RNAs enables the pathogens to adapt their metabolic needs and to coordinately express virulence determinants during different stages of infection.

  • Release : 2024-09-15
  • ISBN :
  • Pages : 816 pages

Download or read book Elder Law written by Nina Kohn and published by Aspen Publishing. This book was released on 2024-09-15 with total page 816 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Revised with teachers and learners in mind, the Third Edition of Elder Law: Practice, Policy, and Problemscomprehensively updates this market-leading casebook. It combines a client-focused approach with in-depth discussions of elder law related policy issues. Designed to be both practical and theoretical, it provides students with specific legal knowledge and a conceptual framework for understanding key issues confronting older adults and the attorneys who represent them. The author’s narrative frames a series of primary materials including cases, statutes, regulations, and sample documents, as well as excerpts from articles designed to stimulate student thinking and discussion. Problems and exercises are numerous. Many relate to client counseling and ask students to imagine themselves in the role of the elder law attorney, and to describe how they would handle various scenarios, such as a client meeting. In addition, questions in each section prompt students to critique key policies, or consider policy changes, and thereby allow students to test their understanding of policies and more deeply think through their consequences. Key Features of the Third Edition: The new edition maintains the book’s status as the most up-to-date and cutting-edge elder law casebook with the following key features: Updates to statutory and regulatory materials New demographic and economic information Updates to eligibility criteria for public benefits Greater emphasis on intersectionality Lessons learned (and legal changes resulting from) the COVID-19 pandemic More excerpts of scholarly articles on key legal, policy, and philosophical dilemmas, designed to help support professors who wish to foster juicy, “big picture” discussions of old age policy Coverage of additional topics including, intergenerational justice, ageism and elderspeak, and family formation in later life Adds a handful of new cases to reflect legal developments and enhance the teaching experience while also moving several longer cases to notes Professors and students will benefit from: Very clearly organized content A client-centered approach Integrated discussion of policy and current issues Relevant cases, statutes, regulations, sample documents, and commentaries that are fully integrated into the casebook All relevant statutory material being in the casebook; no need to require a separate statutory supplement Practice problems of varying difficulty that encourage students to apply what they are learning to realistic client-focused hypothetical scenarios Questions throughout the text that prompt critical thinking and prepare students to engage in classroom discussion ● Exercises that can be used for either independent or in-class assignments

Book Prokaryotic Gene Regulation

Download or read book Prokaryotic Gene Regulation written by Eveline Peeters and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-08-03 with total page 321 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume presents a collection of versatile methodologies to investigate prokaryotic gene regulation, with focus on the different levels of information processing and usefulness for various model organisms, whether archaeal, bacterial, or both. The chapters in this book are divided into four sections. Section One covers methods that enable the study of the structure of the bacterial/archaeal chromosome, the main template for all gene regulatory processes, and its epigenetic modification. Section Two looks at a selection of approaches that enable higher levels of understanding of transcription initiation, a key step in information processing. Section Three discusses the investigation of regulating transcription factors, which are often considered the main players in gene regulation in prokaryotic cells. The Fourth Section focuses on the next stage of information processing at which gene regulation occurs, namely the RNA-based level. Written in the highly successful Methods in Molecular Biology series format, chapters include introductions to their respective topics, lists of the necessary materials and reagents, step-by-step, readily reproducible laboratory protocols, and tips on troubleshooting and avoiding known pitfalls. Cutting-edge and comprehensive, Prokaryotic Gene Regulation: Methods and Protocols is a valuable resource for researchers interested in learning more about this diverse field.

Book Regulating with RNA in Bacteria and Archaea

Download or read book Regulating with RNA in Bacteria and Archaea written by Gisela Storz and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2020-07-10 with total page 400 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Revealing the many roles of RNA in regulating gene expression For decades after the discoveries of messenger RNA, transfer RNA, and ribosomal RNA, it was largely assumed that the role of RNA in the cell was limited to shuttling the genomic message, chaperoning amino acids, and toiling in the ribosomes. Eventually, hints that RNA molecules might have regulatory roles began to appear. With the advent of genomics and bioinformatics, it became evident that numerous other RNA forms exist and have specific functions, including small RNAs (sRNA), RNA thermometers, and riboswitches to regulate core metabolic pathways, bacterial pathogenesis, iron homeostasis, quorum sensing, and biofilm formation. All of these functions, and more, are presented in Regulating with RNA in Bacteria and Archaea, written by RNA biologists from around the globe. Divided into eight sections-RNases and Helicases, Cis-Acting RNAs, Cis Encoded Base Pairing RNAs, Trans-Encoded Base Pairing RNAs, Protein Titration and Scaffolding, General Considerations, Emerging Topics, and Resources-this book serves as an excellent resource for established RNA biologists and for the many scientists who are studying regulated cellular systems. It is no longer a fair assumption that gene expression regulation is the provenance of proteins only or that control is exerted primarily at the level of transcription. This book makes clear that regulatory RNAs are key partners along with proteins in controlling the complex interactions and pathways found within prokaryotes.
