Book Predicting the Next President

Download or read book Predicting the Next President written by Allan J. Lichtman and published by Rowman & Littlefield. This book was released on 2024-07-01 with total page 246 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the days after Donald Trump’s unexpected victory on election night 2016, The New York Times, CNN, and other leading media outlets reached out to one of the few pundits who had correctly predicted the outcome, Allan J. Lichtman. While many election forecasters base their findings exclusively on public opinion polls, Lichtman looks at the underlying fundamentals that have driven every presidential election since 1860. Using his 13 historical factors or “keys” (four political, seven performance, and two personality), Lichtman had been predicting Trump’s win since September 2016. In the updated 2024 edition, he applies the keys to every presidential election since 1860 and shows readers the current state of the 2024 race. In doing so, he dispels much of the mystery behind electoral politics and challenges many traditional assumptions. An indispensable resource for political junkies!

Book The Anomeric Effect

    Book Details:
  • Author : Eusebio Juaristi
  • Publisher : CRC Press
  • Release : 1994-10-12
  • ISBN : 9780849389412
  • Pages : 248 pages

Download or read book The Anomeric Effect written by Eusebio Juaristi and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1994-10-12 with total page 248 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides a comprehensive review of the structural, conformational, and chemical manifestations of the anomeric effect. In order to present a cogent discussion of this most fundamental and relevant phenomenon, three chapters examine our present understanding of the origin of this conformational effect, based upon a wealth of theoretical and physical data. Equally important, however, are three additional chapters that deal with the general consequences of the stereoelectronic interactions that are associated with the basis of the anomeric effect. The remainder of the book is devoted to new areas of development in the topic-such as differentiation of the endo and exo anomeric interactions, specific analysis of the enthalpic component of anomeric effects, critical evaluation of the kinetics and reverse anomeric effects, discovery of a new substantial effect in second- and lower-row anomeric segments, and others.

Book Contact Force Models for Multibody Dynamics

Download or read book Contact Force Models for Multibody Dynamics written by Paulo Flores and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-03-15 with total page 177 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book analyzes several compliant contact force models within the context of multibody dynamics, while also revisiting the main issues associated with fundamental contact mechanics. In particular, it presents various contact force models, from linear to nonlinear, from purely elastic to dissipative, and describes their parameters. Addressing the different numerical methods and algorithms for contact problems in multibody systems, the book describes the gross motion of multibody systems by using a two-dimensional formulation based on the absolute coordinates and employs different contact models to represent contact-impact events. Results for selected planar multibody mechanical systems are presented and utilized to discuss the main assumptions and procedures adopted throughout this work. The material provided here indicates that the prediction of the dynamic behavior of mechanical systems involving contact-impact strongly depends on the choice of contact force model. In short, the book provides a comprehensive resource for the multibody dynamics community and beyond on modeling contact forces and the dynamics of mechanical systems undergoing contact-impact events.

Book Growing Up With Technology

Download or read book Growing Up With Technology written by Lydia Plowman and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2010-04-05 with total page 359 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Growing Up with Technology explores the role of technology in the everyday lives of three- and four-year-old children, presenting the implications for the children’s continuing learning and development. Children are growing up in a world where the internet, mobile phones and other forms of digital interaction are features of daily life. The authors have carefully observed children’s experiences at home and analysed the perspectives of parents, practitioners and the children themselves. This has enabled them to provide a nuanced account of the different ways in which technology can support or inhibit learning. Drawing on evidence from their research, the authors bring a fresh approach to these debates, based on establishing relationships with children, families and educators to get insights into practices, values and attitudes. A number of key questions are considered, including: Which technologies do young children encounter at home and preschool? What kind of learning takes place in these encounters? How can parents and practitioners support this learning? Are some children disadvantaged when it comes to learning with technology? Growing Up with Technology is strongly grounded in a series of research projects, providing new ways of thinking about how children’s learning with technology can be supported. It will be of great interest to undergraduate and postgraduate students on a range of courses including childhood studies, and those with a particular interest in the use of technology in education. Parents, practitioners and researchers will also find this a fascinating and informative read.

Book Fundamental Limitations in Filtering and Control

Download or read book Fundamental Limitations in Filtering and Control written by Maria M. Seron and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 366 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book deals with the issue of fundamental limitations in filtering and control system design. This issue lies at the very heart of feedback theory since it reveals what is achievable, and conversely what is not achievable, in feedback systems. The subject has a rich history beginning with the seminal work of Bode during the 1940's and as subsequently published in his well-known book Feedback Amplifier Design (Van Nostrand, 1945). An interesting fact is that, although Bode's book is now fifty years old, it is still extensively quoted. This is supported by a science citation count which remains comparable with the best contemporary texts on control theory. Interpretations of Bode's results in the context of control system design were provided by Horowitz in the 1960's. For example, it has been shown that, for single-input single-output stable open-loop systems having rela tive degree greater than one, the integral of the logarithmic sensitivity with respect to frequency is zero. This result implies, among other things, that a reduction in sensitivity in one frequency band is necessarily accompa nied by an increase of sensitivity in other frequency bands. Although the original results were restricted to open-loop stable systems, they have been subsequently extended to open-loop unstable systems and systems having nonminimum phase zeros.
