Book Byzantine Coins Influenced by the Shroud of Christ

Download or read book Byzantine Coins Influenced by the Shroud of Christ written by Giulio Fanti and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2021-11-18 with total page 378 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Numerous studies have been carried out on Byzantine coins, but there are still no univocal interpretations on the details of the figures represented there and in particular on those relating to Jesus Christ. The information derived from the studies on the Holy Shroud, the most important Relic of Christ in Christianity, has clearly resulted in some new interpretations. This is the first book in the world that deals extensively with the effigy of Christ, despite being the most sought after and collected by numismatists. Furthermore, the book relates the different images of the Redeemer on Byzantine coins with the image of Jesus Christ on the Shroud, the most important Relic of Christianity. The numerous collectors will therefore be interested in having not only a numismatic analysis of these coins but also a historical-religious study. This book, which should be understandable to everyone, demonstrates the strong influence that the Shroud had in the Byzantine era.

Book The Shroud of Turin

Download or read book The Shroud of Turin written by Giulio Fanti and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2019-12-06 with total page 346 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Shroud of Turin is the most important and studied relic in the world. The many scientific studies on the relic until today have failed to provide conclusive answers about the identity of the enveloped man and the dynamics regarding the image impressed therein. This book not only addresses these issues in a scientific and objective manner but also leads the reader through new search paths. In the second edition, besides including some of the most recent findings on the Shroud, the authors follow the many tips and comments received from readers. The Shroud’s dating by means of alternative methods has not been free from controversies, some of which have even implied the non-authenticity of the Shroud’s samples tested. So the authors duly expand Chapter 7 to include the proof of the origin of the samples used in the recent scientific research and also address the provenance and the path of the original sample. Furthermore, a new section contains a personal interview with the authors that is the result of the interesting and praiseworthy work of a Bavarian high school student. Although there are many books on the subject, none contains such a formidable quantity of scientific news and reports. Unique in its genre, this book is a powerful tool for those who want to study the Turin Shroud deeply.

Book The Shroud of Christ

Download or read book The Shroud of Christ written by Michael Kowalski and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2023-06-30 with total page 271 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Shroud of Turin has been the focus of extensive study by historians and researchers since the beginning of the twentieth century. It is possibly the world’s most studied historical artifact, generating a regular flow of new research publications. There is, however, one scientific test that overshadows all other research: the 1988 radiocarbon dating. This test dated the cloth to the period 1260–1390AD and was given such extensive publicity that most people today no longer accept the Shroud to be a true relic. Sadly, very few people are aware that this test has been widely criticized for falling short of acceptable scientific standards. Similarly, most people remain unaware of the wealth of compelling evidence that contradicts the conclusions of that test and supports claims of the Shroud’s authenticity. This book reveals extracts from secret discussions on dating evidence from the Shroud Science Group, a private, international forum of Shroud researchers and provides a detailed account of the dating evidence revealed by over a hundred years of research. It outlines reasons why the 1988 radiocarbon dating test continues to attract criticism from respected scientists and also describes a series of innovative flax dating techniques which have recently been used measure the age of Shroud material, producing results that contradict the radiocarbon date.

Book Turin Shroud The Fifth Gospel A Scientific and Legal Case for the Resurrection

Download or read book Turin Shroud The Fifth Gospel A Scientific and Legal Case for the Resurrection written by Mickey J Ridings, JD and published by The Writers Tree. This book was released on 2023-09-11 with total page 202 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Today, we live in a time of images, photos, and videos that we continuously show others. Why? Because we love the person pictured. Thus, if my heavenly Father left a photo of His Son Jesus and His passion whom we love, I want to know about it and show it to others. The Shroud is one of the most scientifically investigated artifacts in the world. Numerous scientists, authors, researchers, and experts have published abundant literature. Notable figures, such as Rogers, Habermas, Jackson, Rucker, Whanger, Antonacci, Schwortz, and many more, have contributed to the ongoing dialogue. This book merges the phenomenal works of these experts with the scriptures, historical and physical evidence to create a comprehensive narrative. For example, What supernatural timing of three events confirms the exact date of Jesus' death? What prophet predicted that exact date? What ancient prophecy is only confirmed in the Shroud? How does the Shroud confirm Jesus' body left the tomb in three days? I hope to provide a deeper understanding of the Shroud by presenting a unified story incorporating all available evidence, adding power to your faith and its relevance in today's world.

Book The Holy Fire and the Divine Photography

Download or read book The Holy Fire and the Divine Photography written by Giulio Fanti and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2023-10-06 with total page 378 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The information presented in this book will startle the world. For centuries, the authenticity of the Holy Shroud has been argued about. Skeptics push their negative opinion based on a few highly questionable clues, while the authenticists continue to detect new facts confirming that the Relic wrapped the corpse of Jesus Christ and that the body image impressed on it was produced by a source of energy generated during the Resurrection. What is world-changing is that to explain this "impossible image" of a tortured and crucified man, the book presents a startling new hypothesis, the "Divine Photograph" taken at the instant of the Resurrection, based on a phenomenon, the "Miracle of the Holy Fire" that manifests on every Holy Saturday at the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem. As this amazing relationship becomes more broadly known, the world will be shocked.

Book The Sudarium of Oviedo

Download or read book The Sudarium of Oviedo written by César Barta and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2022-05-25 with total page 386 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Sudarium of Oviedo throws new light on the last hours of Jesus of Nazareth. It provides a better understanding of the gospel John 20:5-7 and some characteristics of the Shroud of Turin that explain since when the use of the Sudarium is known. During the past few decades, those interested in the Shroud of Turin have also been eager to know what this book reveals about the Sudarium of Oviedo, because it reinforces the possibility that both cloths were used on the same Man. This book presents to English-speaking readers the research on the Sudarium of Oviedo, most of which has only been available in Spanish so far. It includes a thorough critical analysis and new unpublished studies. The bloodstained cloth is claimed to be a relic of Christ. This text discusses its trace through history, the many tests performed directly on it or on its samples, its devotional value, and its comparison with the Shroud of Turin.

Book From the Mandylion of Edessa to the Shroud of Turin

Download or read book From the Mandylion of Edessa to the Shroud of Turin written by Andrea Nicolotti and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2014-09-18 with total page 227 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: According to legend, the Mandylion was an image of Christ’s face imprinted on a towel, kept in Edessa. This acheiopoieton image (“not made by human hands”) disappeared in the eighteenth century. The first records of another acheiropoieton relic appeared in mid-fourteenth century France: a long linen bearing the image of Jesus’ corpse, known nowadays as the Holy Shroud of Turin. Some believe the Mandylion and the Shroud to be the same object, first kept in Edessa, later translated to Constantinople, France and Italy. Andrea Nicolotti traces back the legend of the Edessean image in history and art, focusing especially on elements that could prove its identity with the Shroud, concluding that the Mandylion and the Shroud are two distinct objects.

Book What Did Jesus Look Like

Download or read book What Did Jesus Look Like written by Joan E. Taylor and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2018-02-08 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Jesus Christ is arguably the most famous man who ever lived. His image adorns countless churches, icons, and paintings. He is the subject of millions of statues, sculptures, devotional objects and works of art. Everyone can conjure an image of Jesus: usually as a handsome, white man with flowing locks and pristine linen robes. But what did Jesus really look like? Is our popular image of Jesus overly westernized and untrue to historical reality? This question continues to fascinate. Leading Christian Origins scholar Joan E. Taylor surveys the historical evidence, and the prevalent image of Jesus in art and culture, to suggest an entirely different vision of this most famous of men. He may even have had short hair.

  • Pages : 360 pages

Download or read book The Shroud written by Ian Wilson and published by Transworld Publishers. This book was released on 2010 with total page 360 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Two decades after radiocarbon dating declared the Turin Shroud a mediaeval fake, brand-new historical discoveries strongly suggest that this famous cloth, with its extraordinary photographic imprint, is genuinely Christ's shroud after all. In 1978 in his international bestseller The Turin Shroud Ian Wilson ignited worldwide public debate with his compelling case endorsing the shroud's authenticity. Now, 30 years later, he has completely rewritten and updated his earlier book to provide fresh evidence to support his original argument. Shroud boldly challenges the current post-radiocarbon dating view - that it is a fake. By arguing his case brilliantly and provocatively, Ian Wilson once more throws the matter into the public arena for further debate and controversy.

Book The Image of Edessa

    Book Details:
  • Author : Mark Guscin
  • Publisher : BRILL
  • Release : 2009
  • ISBN : 9004171746
  • Pages : 257 pages

Download or read book The Image of Edessa written by Mark Guscin and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2009 with total page 257 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Image of Edessa, also later known as the Mandylion, was a relic of Christ, a cloth imprinted with his features which he had used to wipe his face, and subsequently used to cure King Agbar of Edessa, the first Christian ruler. This book collects and provides parallel translations of all the available written evidence for the image, along with detailed analysis of the history of the image. Guscin deftly seperates fact from legend, for while the story of King Agbar is certainly mythical, an image of some sort did definitely exist by the mid tenth century when it was translated to Constantinople.

Book Byzantine Coins

Download or read book Byzantine Coins written by Philip D. Whitting and published by . This book was released on 1973 with total page 312 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The growing popularity of the Byzantine series amongst coin collectors is a recent phenomenon which prompts enquiry into what may have brought it about. Undoubtedly there is an element of investment value as coins can be both works of art and antiques which, under modern conditions it seems, often prove more attractive to investors--great and small--than market stocks and shares. The Byzantine series provides a prolific gold coinage with many rarities and some outstanding works of art, although little so obviously attractive to the investor or art collector as the Greek or even the Roman Imperial and English Hammered series have done. -- Pg. 11.
