The discovery of drugs on the airplane put all their lives in jeopardy. Instead of leaving well enough alone, Green decides to fight back. He becomes involved in a world of intrigue, sex, violence, and drugs. In doing so, he finds out that their is a fine line between good and evil. An assassination attempt in Canada goes terribly wrong during a vicious snowstorm. When the sky clears and the bodies pile up, it becomes quite apparent that this was no hunting accident. Two men escaped. Bob Green was motivated by the love of his wife and family, Henekie by the death of his best friend and mentor, but mostly by greed. Book The Big House

Download or read book The Big House written by George Howe Colt and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2012-08-07 with total page 340 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Faced with the sale of the century-old family summer house on Cape Cod where he had spent forty-two summers, George Howe Colt recounts returning for one last stay with his wife and children in this stunning memoir that was a National Book Award Finalist and a New York Times Notable Book of the Year. This poignant tribute to the eleven-bedroom jumble of gables, bays, and dormers that watched over weddings, divorces, deaths, anniversaries, birthdays, breakdowns, and love affairs for five generations interweaves Colt’s final visit with memories of a lifetime of summers. Run-down yet romantic, The Big House stands not only as a cherished reminder of summer’s ephemeral pleasures but also as a powerful symbol of a vanishing way of life.

Book A Cruising Guide to Narragansett Bay and the South Coast of Massachusetts Including Buzzard s Bay Nantucket Martha s Vineyard and Block Island

Download or read book A Cruising Guide to Narragansett Bay and the South Coast of Massachusetts Including Buzzard s Bay Nantucket Martha s Vineyard and Block Island written by Patrick Childress and published by International Marine/Ragged Mountain Press. This book was released on 1995-10-22 with total page 504 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Between Long Island Sound and the elbow of Cape Cod lies a richly varied cruising ground. A Cruising Guide to Narragansett Bay and the South Coast of Massachusetts is the definitive cruising guide to these waters. Its coverage extends to the headwaters of Narragansett Bay and miles offshore to the solitude of Block Island and Nantucket. Longtime area boaters Lynda and Patrick Childress and Tink Martin take you on a personal tour with all you need for a day, a weekend, or several weeks of cruising. They provide essential information on weather, tides, currents, and pilotage, as well as the availability of moorings and the closest place to pick up provisions. The unique harbor rating system shows at a glance what each anchorage offers in facilities, protection, beauty, and interest. Maps and charts help negotiate tricky channels or find that hidden marina. When you've dropped anchor and are sitting back in the cockpit after a day's cruising, the guide continues to inform you, pointing out places to go for food and entertainment, where to find hiking trails, picnic and fishing spots, wildlife sanctuaries, museums, and more. In addition, the authors give cruisers the historical context in which to view the passing scenery, and they impart a deep affection for the region's unique character.

Book Swimming at Suppertime

Download or read book Swimming at Suppertime written by Carol Wasserman and published by Three Rivers Press. This book was released on 2003-02 with total page 212 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Master storyteller and beloved NPR commentator Carol Wasserman shares the quirky jobs and tribulations of her life among fellow Swamp Yankees in a little town on the Massachusetts coast, across the water from upscale Cape Cod. In the tradition of Bailey White and Garrison Keillor, she regales us with amusing and touching stories about the colorful characters and yearly rituals—from the absurd to the sublime—that keep her so closely tethered to the town and her ancient, crumbling house, which she describes as a “fragile, sinking, lovely old wreck of a place that I have come to confuse with my own flesh.” In these tales that have delighted millions of listeners, she describes the fine art of buying apples from squabbling orchard owners; the wild enthusiasms of her dearly departed husband, Aubrey, who was once sure he’d discovered a tiny Stonehenge by the side of the road; and the community of ladies who swim at suppertime, when the beach is deserted and they know “the ocean will be as warm as the primordial soup.” Swimming at Suppertime is the remarkable debut of one of the most original and entertaining new voices writing about the wondrous daily surprises and pleasures of American life.
