The process examined is similar to TPC/UOP Oxo-D process. In this process, butenes are catalytically dehydrogenated to produce a crude butadiene stream which is further purified to the final Butadiene product. In the purification step, raffinate is obtained as by-product. This report examines one-time costs associated with the construction of a United States-based plant and the continuing costs associated with the daily operation of such a plant.
