I was fascinated by your remembrance of 90+ years ago. You wrote over 100+ pages of your life you obviously enjoyed. I thank you for sharing your book. It’s awesome.” -Charlene Dawson, writer and journalist “Edward, dear! What a fantastic tale you weave! Your memories and book style captivated my whole being. I had thought I would merely peruse the hundred and twenty pages and just say a little white lie that I had read the whole thing. But, no, I could not quit until I read it all. I believe your book should appeal to those who lived in that era and those who are interested in how life ‘was’ in the olden/golden days.” -Charline Gajdos, lifelong secretary and world traveler “Watkins is the best salesman since St. Paul. [He] shows that faith can move mountains.” -John Dudley, Scout Master of California “Dear Edward, this was an amazing autobiography. Your memory for the details is extraordinary and the recounting of your childhood, flying career, sales career, and golfing experiences is amazing. Thank you for the opportunity to read it.” -Sally and Basil Binckley This is the story about Edward Watkins’s life from his birth to his forty-third birthday. It covers his childhood and his working eight hours a night as an apprentice machinist while in high school. It’s about how he became a Naval Aviator in 1943. He was discharged February 2, 1946, and proceeded to get a college education. He started selling books part-time and found out that he could make more money as an encyclopedia salesman than he could as an engineer. Watkins returned to service for the Korean War October 31, 1952, and was discharged on March 3, 1954. Then Watkins went back to bookselling where he became the regional VP for Collier’s of New England area. He eventually quit that position because his wife could not stand Eastern ragweed and returned to California. He became interested in cosmetics and acquired a dealership in Holiday Magic in 1968. Watkin’s wife divorced him and remarried her first husband on September 7, 1968. Watkin’s called her three months later and she was unhappy. He told her to return home. She canceled her marriage and she and Watkins were remarried February 27, 1969. It could never happen, but it did.

Book I Have Gone Through Hell but I Didn t Stop

Download or read book I Have Gone Through Hell but I Didn t Stop written by Lottie M. Campbell and published by Dorrance Publishing. This book was released on 2021-09-20 with total page 246 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I Have Gone Through Hell, but I Didn't Stop! By: Lottie M. Campbell Realizing many experience the same hardships as she has gone through, Lottie M. Campbell sat and wrote her story so that others may read, relate, and discuss their own journeys. If you have ever had an unfaithful spouse, a mother or father remarry after the death of a parent, or if you were ever treated as an orphan in your own home, Campbell's story will resonate with you. With her faith in God, Campbell was able to find the strength, courage, and confidence she needed to continue on with her life. Just as God plants an oak tree, causing the winds, rains, and storms to give it strength, so, too, will he do the same for his people, encouraging them to build their character, faith, and endurance through all so they may come out sturdier and stronger in the end.

Book My Soul Cried Out But I Could Not Weep

Download or read book My Soul Cried Out But I Could Not Weep written by Elisabeth Holyday and published by Author House. This book was released on 2011-12-13 with total page 361 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A small town country girl from humble beginnings with a passion for music and church is trapped for decades with a traumatic secret that changed the direction of her life. This playful happy-go-lucky little girl who once indulged in solving arithmetic that went far beyond her tender age; and running home from school to get to the Wednesday night Prayer Meetings, now gives a refreshingly tasteful view of life at home with her mother and siblings - rich in love though shadowed with poverty. The extent she went to spare her mother from more heartache when she faced her worst nightmare, is a testament to her resounding strength to protect her mother at all cost; but it wasnt enough to shield her from the effects of what her silence would cost her in the years ahead. At times its like a story out of a fiction movie, unfortunately, its not. It is the story of a real person - a mother who is forced to share her story so her children can finally know the truth. Tumultuous, yet inspiring, every ounce of this soul was put to the test but her faith withstood them all. The courage to always get up and keep going despite obstacles, and the determination to survive not so much for herself, but for her children and her mother; makes this a book for every mother, daughter, and sister. It can only be concurred that the loving bond Elisabeth had with her Mom, and the love she got in return, along with everything she learned in Church and Sunday school, shaped and moulded this precious soul for the unimaginable road she would walk ALONE. And now, twenty-five years after her daughter said to her: Mom, of all the books you have read, there's a book that has not been written, and that's your book. Elisabeth finally speaks.

Download or read book We Could Have Been Friends My Father and I written by Raja Shehadeh and published by Other Press, LLC. This book was released on 2023-03-28 with total page 146 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A subtle psychological portrait of the author’s relationship with his father during the twentieth-century battle for Palestinian human rights. Aziz Shehadeh was many things: lawyer, activist, and political detainee, he was also the father of bestselling author and activist Raja. In this new and searingly personal memoir, Raja Shehadeh unpicks the snags and complexities of their relationship. A vocal and fearless opponent, Aziz resists under the British mandatory period, then under Jordan, and, finally, under Israel. As a young man, Raja fails to recognize his father’s courage and, in turn, his father does not appreciate Raja’s own efforts in campaigning for Palestinian human rights. When Aziz is murdered in 1985, it changes Raja irrevocably. This is not only the story of the battle against the various oppressors of the Palestinians, but a moving portrait of a particular father and son relationship.

Book So You Built it and They Didn t Come

Download or read book So You Built it and They Didn t Come written by Jackie Bassett and published by Sales of Innovative Products. This book was released on 2006 with total page 160 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When you look at all of the innovation that has been added to the world in just the last one hundred years, it is absolutely astounding how far we've come. Start-ups endeavor to capture that innovation and make its benefits available to those whose lives will be forever improved by it. Yes, there can be great wealth and fame for those intrepid entrepreneurs who dare beyond the dream, to actual execution. But there is also great risk and no guarantees. Today the barriers to starting a company are almost too low and that can seduce an entrepreneur to build without truly thinking the idea through to its rightful conclusion. · It's just full speed ahead of the competition even when there isn't any. · It's millions of investment dollars spent on a product with no customers yet. · It's build it and they will come. Well, what if they didn't come? What are you going to do now? This is a far different situation than when you were driving the original idea, selling the vision, seeking and getting the intoxicating "Wow's", when everyone would talk to you and everyone was chasing you to share his or her sage. But when you've built it and they didn't come, when you have that epiphany that maybe they aren't ever coming, when the buzz and the fervor turn into fear, uncertainty and doubt, where do you turn? Well I've accepted that I can't get to every start-up's CEO before he builds a product with no orders for it. He wouldn't listen anyway as most are too busy building to listen then. But what I can do is help him figure out his Now What? when it happens. This book is not about theory. It's true stories with practical advice on what to do next. Getting it right creates jobs, provides for the future of the families involved, brings products to the world that can forever improve lives and bring benefits to our global economy. It is with great courage that these Executives so candidly have shared their own true stories of how they came to their Now What moment and what they did to get it right. No one told them, now they openly will tell you:
