Download or read book Business Process Outsourcing Unleashed written by Ade Asefeso MCIPS MBA and published by AA Global Sourcing Ltd. This book was released on 2011-02-25 with total page 121 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One of the main reasons companies resort to outsourcing is it can significantly reduce costs. In the case of overseas outsourcing of manufacturing tasks, costs can be cut dramatically because there are lower wages and costs associated with managing and maintaining the manufacturing plants. However, companies also enjoy a cost savings when they outsource tasks domestically. Reduction of labour costs is the primary source of savings in this case. Independent contractors hired on a contract basis for the purpose of completing specific tasks are often not given benefits such as social security, Medicare and workers compensation.
Download or read book The Vendor Management Office Unleashing the Power of Strategic Sourcing written by Stephen Guth and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2007-11-17 with total page 136 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Negotiating the lowest possible price is no longer enough. Internal customers now demand more-they need business advice, guidance, and expertise to manage their sourcing requirements. They need an organization that focuses less on price and more on the value that vendors can provide. The organizational key to unleash the potential of strategic sourcing is the Vendor Management Office or "VMO." It is an over-arching organizational concept of strategically managing procurements and vendors.Resulting from over 10 years of real-life experience implementing VMOs, this book introduces the concept of a VMO and the philosophy that cost is not always a factor. The book is intended to be much more than conceptual. Concrete and practical tools considered necessary to launch a newly formed VMO are explored in detail. Appendices contain materials that can be easily adapted for use by any VMO. If you are interested in implementing a VMO or you are interested in vendor management as a career--this book is for you.

Download or read book The Land Question in India written by Anthony P. D'Costa and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2017-03-31 with total page 358 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume takes a fresh look at the land question in India. Instead of re-engaging in the rich transition debate in which the transformation of agriculture is seen as a necessary historical step to usher in dynamic capitalist (or socialist) development, this collection critically examines the centrality of land in contemporary development discourse in India. Consequently, the focus is on the role of the state in pushing a process of dispossession of peasants through direct expropriation for developmental purposes such as acquisition of land by (local) states for infrastructure development and to support accumulation strategies of private business through industrialization. Land in India is sought for non-agricultural purposes such as purchasing land to reduce risk and real estate development. Land is also central to tribal communities (adivasis), whose livelihoods depend on it and on a moral economy that is independent of any price-driven markets. Adivasis tend to hold on to such property, not as individual owners for profit, but for collective security and to protect a way of life. Thus land, notwithstanding its role in the accumulation process, has been, and continues to be, a turbulent arena in which classes, castes, and communities are in conflict with each other, with the state, and with capital, jockeying to determine the terms and conditions of land transactions or their prevention, through both market and non-market mechanisms. The volume goes beyond the traditional political economy of the agrarian transition question, and deals with, inter alia, distributional conflicts arising from acquisition of land by the state for capital accumulation on the one hand and its commodification on the other. It provides new analytical insights into the land acquisition processes, their legal-institutional and ethical implications, and the multifaceted regional diversity of acquisition experiences in India.

Download or read book Nine Keys to World Class Business Process Outsourcing written by Mary Lacity and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2015-04-23 with total page 265 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Business Process Outsourcing (BPO)-the sourcing of business services through external third parties-is a global phenomenon, which generated nearly $300 billion worldwide in 2012. BPO is highly IT-enabled, and on a growth trajectory that impacts across functions of major, medium and small enterprises, including procurement, human resources, accounting and finance, sales, marketing, legal, asset management and key administrative processes. Despite this size and spread, BPO services and the ability of clients to manage their providers, are still evolving and have a mixed record. In the course of their research, the authors have found only 20% of outsourcing arrangements are world-class performers. A further 25% are 'good', 40% are 'OK' and 15% are 'poor'. This book pinpoints and describes in detail the effective practices that characterize the top global BPO performers, including Microsoft, BP, EMC and TalkTalk. The authors provide case illustrations and examples throughout of how world-class practices were generated and evolved, and how they can be applied to real life settings and problem areas.

Download or read book Unleashing the Second American Century written by Joel Kurtzman and published by PublicAffairs. This book was released on 2014-02-25 with total page 322 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Political gridlock in Washington... the lingering effects of the financial crisis . . . structural problems such as unemployment and the skills gap of our work force . . . the mediocre K-12 educational system. Are our best days behind us? Joel Kurtzman persuasively shows why all the talk about America's decline is not only baseless but dead wrong. Our best days, are, in fact, ahead of us. Four transformational forces -- unrivaled manufacturing depth, soaring levels of creativity, massive new energy sources, and gigantic amounts of capital waiting to be invested -- have been gathering steam. When combined they will provide the foundation for a much stronger economy, robust growth, and broad-based prosperity that will propel the United States to new heights. One endlessly repeated anxiety is that "we don't make anything here, anymore." The reality, though, is that the US is the world's dominant manufacturing power -- and growing. American companies produce 20 percent of the world's goods in the US and perhaps another 15 to 20 percent outside our country. And much of what we make is recession-proof -- such as software, jetliners, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, and food. Kurtzman reveals the stories of the unsung heroes who are the creative force leading the second American century, describing the payoff of the investment in our best minds. American companies have stunning levels of talent and creativity at work in the world's fastest growing economic sectors -- biotech, pharmaceuticals, computer hardware and software, telecommunications, advanced manufacturing, materials science, and aeronautical and space engineering. In these fields, Americans are without peer and consistently break new ground. We are coming to the realization that America is no longer beholden to the despots of foreign energy. Thanks to advances in technology developed in the US, we now have among the world's largest energy reserves, and are richer in energy resources than Saudi Arabia and second only to Russia. These three strengths -- manufacturing, soaring levels of creativity, and energy independence -- will be magnified and synergistically combined with the unprecedented amount of capital that now lies idle. US companies of all types are hoarding cash and securities worth more than 4 trillion -- an amount larger than the world's fourth largest economy, Germany. When the money starts flowing and is invested, it will rapidly propel every part of the economy forward.

Download or read book Unleashing Africa s Resilience Pan Africanist Renaissance In a New African Century written by Costantinos Berhutesfa Costantinos and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2014-04-22 with total page 741 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Africa includes five of the world's fastest-growing economies, as well as a treasure chest of natural resources. Those very things, however, have caused multinational corporations to flock to the continent in an attempt take control of those resources. An African renaissance is hard to conceptualize, but that is exactly what is beginning to effect real change, with the assistance of both public officials and ordinary citizens. This study theorizes an African renaissance as the dynamic interaction of strategy and process and seeks to motivate researchers to shift analysis in that direction. This shift emphasizes the task of broadly structuring African renaissance as a geopolitical system is more important than that of promoting it within a specific program of nations. Unleashing Africa's Resilience provides the necessary tools for research-based policymaking and the critical thinking needed to help Africa build a vibrant economy and become a more prominent player on the world stage.
