These reports develop insights and solutions that help companies in Asia to build global leaders. Leadership Mosaics Across Vietnam is HCLI’s focus on Vietnam. Comprising two key sections, the first describes the prevalent characteristics that Vietnam business leaders tend to display and how they may need to adapt for the future. The second section turns the spotlight on Vietnam’s emerging leaders, and how they can make the next leap to become global leaders. Leadership Mosaics Across Vietnam would not be possible without the support of many contributors. HCLI expresses its sincere gratitude to the C-suite (or equivalent) leaders who gamely agreed to be interviewed. Their insights, shared through honest and in-depth conversations, were invaluable in drawing out a more intricate mosaics of Vietnam leadership, both of its present and future, and of the incumbents and the emerging leaders. As Leadership Mosaics Across Vietnam continues to weave, validate, and event challenge what we know of business leadership in Asia, HCLI hopes that it will truly help companies in Asia build global leaders.

Book Cross Cultural Approaches to Leadership Development

Download or read book Cross Cultural Approaches to Leadership Development written by C. Brooklyn Derr and published by Bloomsbury Publishing USA. This book was released on 2002-05-30 with total page 342 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Leadership development is critical to organizational competitive advantage. The key to successful leadership development programs lies in understanding the complex and always-shifting interplay of national culture, organizational culture, program dynamics, and individual differences. Editors Derr, Roussillon, and Bournois explain the interrelationships among these influences, demonstrating how national culture may play a greater role in leadership development programs in some countries than in other countries. Contributors present varying viewpoints from the United States, France, the United Kingdom, Japan, the Netherlands, Poland, Germany, Italy, China, Vietnam, Israel, Africa, and Latin America. Perspectives on leadership management in changing organizations, on fast-track executives, and on the perspective of a clinical psychologist are included. In addition, the editors have included a discussion of the diversity-collaboration model, a highly useful tool for modulating the pendulum swings between the two extremes. In this context, diversity in the extreme is exemplified by a fluid, mobile, global labor force in which the risks include lack of unifying goals, lack of loyalty to the firm, and lack of effective action. The converse—collaboration in the extreme—is characterized by so much internal socialization, integration, and homogeneity that creativity is squelched and innovation is stifled. Preparing future leaders effectively entails straddling the middle by integrating highly acculturated, loyal, dedicated insiders with free agents culled from the global talent pool. The various chapters on leadership development as practiced in both developed and developing countries provide valuable insight into the utility of the diversity-collaboration model. Human resource managers, leadership development consultants, and organizational behavior consultants as well as their academic colleagues will find this work tremendously useful.

Book Collaborative Wisdom

Download or read book Collaborative Wisdom written by Greg Park and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-05-23 with total page 298 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Why do some corporate superstars collapse dramatically, while others survive and prosper over many decades? Is the fall primarily caused by ’technical factors’, such as poor products and pricing, financial management or market choices, by self-aggrandisement, or perhaps by poor leadership attributes and capabilities? Greg Park argues that ultimately organisational survival and optimal performance over the long term is dependent upon collaborative wisdom. Within the dominant coalition of a successful community or corporation there is an inherited, pervasive, commonly and collectively held dominant logic, comprising leadership principles, perspectives and priorities, based upon universal values which are understood and accepted as satisfying the requirements and aspirations of each stakeholder. This collaborative wisdom ensures cohesive and consistent behaviour across and within every function of a complex, fast-moving organization. Its practical application is reflected in the daily operational decisions of leaders within the organisation, be they divisional, departmental heads or supervisors. Without collaborative wisdom organisational collapse is the inevitable result, primarily through the disintegration of belief, confidence, motivation, cohesion, advocacy and energy within and between key stakeholder groups. Collaborative Wisdom examines the nature and criticality of wisdom as a leadership attribute, how effective operational leadership is not just about knowledge and experience, but more fundamentally about a cognitive mental process which considers and consistently applies fundamental values, principles, perspectives and priorities in an analytical and affective manner. This ensures effective operational leadership and optimal organisational performance over the long term, informed by experience, instinct, intuition, but also by insight, judgment and ultimately, wisdom.

Book Legal Regulation of Corporate Social Responsibility

Download or read book Legal Regulation of Corporate Social Responsibility written by Mia Mahmudur Rahim and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-27 with total page 340 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Even though Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has become a widely accepted concept promoted by different stakeholders, business corporations' internal strategies, known as corporate self-regulation in most of the weak economies, respond poorly to this responsibility. Major laws relating to corporate regulation and responsibilities of these economies do not possess adequate ongoing influence to insist on corporate self-regulation to create a socially responsible corporate culture. This book describes how the laws relating to CSR could contribute to the inclusion of CSR principles at the core of the corporate self-regulation of these economies in general, without being intrusive in normal business practice. It formulates a meta-regulation approach to law, particularly by converging patterns of private ordering and state control in contemporary corporate law from the perspective of a weak economy. It proposes that this approach is suitable for alleviating regulators' limited access to information and expertise, inherent limitations of prescriptive rules, ensuring corporate commitment, and enhance the self-regulatory capacity of companies. This book describes various meta-regulation strategies for laws to link social values to economic incentives and disincentives, and to indirectly influence companies to incorporate CSR principles at the core of their self-regulation strategies. It investigates this phenomenon using Bangladesh as a case study.

Yet, national human resource development (NHRD) is a relatively new concept in Vietnam. It examines the positive changes effected by HRD considering Vietnam’s unique historical, political, economic, and cultural contexts. This book offers scholars and practitioners an indigenous HRD approach and discusses implications for future research and practices.

Book Handbook of Global Leadership and Followership

Download or read book Handbook of Global Leadership and Followership written by Joan F. Marques and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-03-29 with total page 1046 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This handbook integrates the best leadership and followership theories and practices between the Global North-West (countries of Western individualistic cultures in Europe, North America, Australia and Oceana) and the Global South-East (countries of Eastern collectivistic cultures in Asia, Africa, South America, and South-East Asian and Oceana). There is a need to bring the Global North-West and the Global South-East together to address global challenges such as the climate change, global hunger and poverty, domestic and international terrorism, social justice, gender inequality, and domestic and global abuse of human and natural resources. This innovative volume proposes that the democratic leadership of the Global North-West and the human-centered followership of the Global South-East can transform the world if leadership and followership values, education, and practices are integrated. It utilizes findings from positive psychology, social psychology, organizational behavior, and world religions and contemplative wisdom traditions to highlight the case for global leadership and followership.
