Download or read book The Adventures of Bunny Flu Flu written by Cheryl McClellan and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2008-01-07 with total page 87 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Bunny Flu Flu is a precocious little rabbit who loves life and often learns life’s lessons the hard way. I started writing her stories over seven years ago when I would be inspired by one of my grandchildren. There is a little of each of them in many of Bunny Flu Flu’s adventures. What started out as a series of poems slowly birthed itself into the idea of a book with illustrations to capture the hearts of parents and their children. A wonderful young man named Edwin Faulkner assisted with bringing Bunny Flu Flu to life when he sat down with colored pencils and sketched the first illustrations. She’s as adorable as I imagined her to be and each of her critter friends come alive as they journey through the pages of the book with Flu Flu. I hope you enjoy each of her escapades with me and who knows .... She might just teach us a thing or two along the way. Enjoy with my sincere pleasure, Cheryl McClellan

Book excerpt: One of Purewow’s “Best Beach Reads of Summer 2018” Winner for Best Book of 2018 of the Fresh Fiction Awards! New York Times bestselling author Kristan Higgins is beloved for her heartfelt novels filled with humor and wisdom. Now, she tackles an issue every woman deals with: body image and self-acceptance. Emerson, Georgia, and Marley have been best friends ever since they met at a weight-loss camp as teens. When Emerson tragically passes away, she leaves one final wish for her best friends: to conquer the fears they still carry as adults. For each of them, that means something different. For Marley, it's coming to terms with the survivor's guilt she's carried around since her twin sister's death, which has left her blind to the real chance for romance in her life. For Georgia, it's about learning to stop trying to live up to her mother's and brother's ridiculous standards, and learning to accept the love her ex-husband has tried to give her. But as Marley and Georgia grow stronger, the real meaning of Emerson's dying wish becomes truly clear: more than anything, she wanted her friends to love themselves. A novel of compassion and insight, Good Luck With That tells the story of two women who learn to embrace themselves just the way they are.

Download or read book Rabbit Decolonizes the Forest written by Gregory H. Bigler and published by University of Oklahoma Press. This book was released on 2024-03-26 with total page 207 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Before their forced removal to Oklahoma in the 1830s, the Euchee people lived in Georgia and other southeastern territories. Today the Euchees are enrolled members of the Muscogee Nation of Oklahoma, but they possess their own language, culture, and traditions. This unique collection by Euchee citizen Gregory H. Bigler combines traditional di’ile (Euchee tales), personal recollections, and contemporary stories to portray a way of life often hidden from view. Written in an engaging, down-to-earth style, the stories in this book immerse the reader in the everyday experiences of the Euchee community. With his gift for storytelling, Bigler welcomes readers into the lives and culture of the people whose stories he has heard or observed throughout his life and career as a lawyer and judge. Unforgettable characters appear or reappear in various settings, and these figures, whether animal or human, are bound to bring forth a chuckle or leave the reader wanting to learn more about their history. Some of the tales address serious legal injustices, while others poke gentle fun at lofty academic constructs. In the title story, for example, the mischievous character Shajwane (Rabbit), resolves to decolonize the forest, to strip away its “false narrative,” by literally removing all new growth from the trees. These stories bring to life Euchee traditions that include family ties, the stomp dance, and communal cooking and feasting. Woven throughout is the sacred element of spirit. As Bigler explains in his introduction, the “spiritual” for Euchees signifies not a Western quest for peace or centeredness but a world filled with animate spirits that interact with all of us—as we see them, feel them, or seek them out. The Euchee people are unknown to most Americans. They inhabit a small area southwest of Tulsa and have yet to receive federal recognition. Yet even in their modern-day lives—as these stories capture so beautifully—the Euchee people remain fiercely determined to show “they are still here.”
