Book excerpt: Es indudable que la sociedad de la información se ha transformado a una velocidad de vértigo gracias al desarrollo de las tecnologías de la información y de la comunicación, las conocidas como TIC, y su rápida implantación en las relaciones sociales, culturales y económicas de las personas, que permiten que tanto la transmisión como la recepción de la información pueda realizarse de manera ubicua, rompiendo cualquier barrera espacio-temporal. Ha quedado demostrada la efi cacia de las TIC para cambiar las actividades y hábitos de la sociedad en todos sus ámbitos. Este escenario ha modificado la sociedad del conocimiento, permitiendo utilizar esa información para su correcta interpretación y con ello generar resultados, recursos o razonamientos que conllevan la creación del conocimiento. En concreto, en el contexto de la docencia universitaria están modifi cándose las metodologías docentes, e incorporando otras nuevas, con la inmersión de las TIC en las aulas, aprovechando la familiarización que poseen nuestros estudiantes con estas tecnologías, tan habituales en su vida cotidiana.
