Book excerpt: Salem Albe, a Palestinian, dreams to be a nuclear physicist in Oxford, but the sudden killing of his parents by Israeli army crushed his all ambition. Now, he resolves to eliminate the entire Jew community from Israel. For this purpose, he lays down the foundation of Brown Desert, BD, an underground organization to develop a dreaded virus named IV-786. By kidnapping several virologists across the world he puts them in his laboratory in Al Abbas Island in Arabian Sea where the virus is being researched. The network in Europe is also assisting in the kill-mission. One day a female Mossad agent Nitzan Renay, a Jew, is sent to London with the mission to assassinate Salem Albe, but she falls in his love. She was masquerading as a student. She conceals her Jewish identity until the end. When Salem was close to get the deadly virus, the reign of Brown Desert is taken by a fanatic Arabian cleric Zamil Jalal to kill not only the Jews, but all non-Muslims. He orders the killing of Salem Albe and Nitzan Renay. The enemies hound for the two lovers across the United Kingdom and Ireland, but they're hardly traced. Will the virus IV-786 ever be a reality? What will happen to Salem Albe and the Mossad agent Nitzan Renay? Go through the blood freezing journey to know the fate of Salem Albe, Nitzan Renay and Brown Desert.

Book Physiological Plant Ecology IV

Download or read book Physiological Plant Ecology IV written by O. L. Lange and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 648 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: O. L. LANGE, P. S. NOBEL, C. B. OSMOND, and H. ZIEGLER In the last volume of the series 'Physiological Plant Ecology' we have asked contributors to address the bases of ecosystem processes in terms of key plant physiological properties. It has often been suggested that it is not profitable to attempt analysis of complex living systems in terms of the properties of component individuals or populations, i. e. , the whole is more than the sum of its parts. Nevertheless, assessments of ecological research over the last century show that other approaches are seldom more helpful. Although it is possible to describe complex systems of living organisms in holistic terms, the most useful descriptions are found in terms of the birth, growth and death of individ uals. This allows analysis of performance of the parts of the whole considering their synergistic and antagonistic interrelationships and is the basis for a synthe sis which elucidates the specific properties of a system. Thus it seems that the description of ecosystem processes is inevitably anchored in physiological under standing. If enquiry into complex living systems is to remain a scientific exercise, it must retain tangible links with physiology. Of course, as was emphasized in Vol. 12A, not all of our physiological understanding is required to explore ecosystem processes. For pragmatic purposes, the whole may be adequantely represented as a good deal less than the sum of its parts.

  • Author : Eugene F. Milone

Download or read book Solar System Astrophysics written by Eugene F. Milone and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2014-01-30 with total page 496 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The second edition of Solar System Astrophysics: Planetary Atmospheres and the Outer Solar System provides a timely update of our knowledge of planetary atmospheres and of the bodies of the outer solar system and their analogs in other planetary systems. This volume begins with an expanded treatment of the physics, chemistry, and meteorology of the atmospheres of the Earth, Venus, and Mars, moving on to their magnetospheres and then to a full discussion of the gas and ice giants and their properties. From here, attention switches to the small bodies of the solar system, beginning with the natural satellites. The comets, meteors, meteorites, and asteroids are discussed in order, and the volume concludes with the origin and evolution of our solar system. Finally, a fully revised section on extrasolar planetary systems puts the development of our system in a wider and increasingly well understood galactic context. All of the material is presented within a framework of historical importance. This book and its sister volume, Solar System Astrophysics: Background Science and the Inner Solar system, are pedagogically well written, providing clearly illustrated explanations, for example, of such topics as the numerical integration of the Adams-Williamson equation, the equations of state in planetary interiors and atmospheres, Maxwell’s equations as applied to planetary ionospheres and magnetospheres, and the physics and chemistry of the Habitable Zone in planetary systems. Together, the volumes form a comprehensive text for any university course that aims to deal with all aspects of solar and extra-solar planetary systems. They will appeal separately to the intellectually curious who would like to know how just how far our knowledge of the solar system has progressed in recent years.

Book The Action Plan for Australian Birds 2010

Download or read book The Action Plan for Australian Birds 2010 written by Stephen Garnett and published by CSIRO PUBLISHING. This book was released on 2011 with total page 453 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Action Plan for Australian Birds 2010is the third in a series of action plans that have been produced at the start of each decade. The book analyzes the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) status of all the species and subspecies of Australia's birds, including those of the offshore territories. For each bird the size and trend in their population and distribution has been analyzed using the latest iteration of IUCN Red List Criteria to determine their risk of extinction. The book also provides an account of all those species and subspecies that are or are likely to be extinct. Each categorization is justified on the basis of the latest research, including much unpublished material that has been made available during workshops conducted with leading ornithologists and conservation biologists around the country as well as phone interviews and correspondence. The result is the most authoritative account yet of the status of Australia's birds. In this completely revised edition each account covers not only the 2010 status but provides a retrospective assessment of the status in 1990 and 2000 based on current knowledge, taxonomic revisions and changes to the IUCN criteria, and then reasons why the status of some taxa has changed over the last two decades. Maps have been created specifically for the Action Plan based on vetted data drawn from the records of Birds Australia, its members and its partners in many government departments. The book contains some surprises - some alarming, some encouraging. The status of some birds has improved over the last two decades as a result of dedicated conservation management. Some may not have changed status but at least they are holding their own. Many, however, are continuing to decline and a distressing number are new to the list. There is also an increasing number of birds for which captive insurance populations need not only to be considered as a future option but actively pursued before it is too late. But this is not a book of lost causes. It is a call for action to keep the extraordinary biodiversity we have inherited and pass the legacy to our children. Every one of Australia's threatened taxa can be saved. This book describes the populations of species at greatest risk and outlines ways we can turn them around. KEY FEATURES * Readily accessible status information with reasons for listing * Synopsis of principal features that influence listing * List of actions needed for conservation * Includes specially commissioned distribution maps
