Download or read book Broaden Your Perception written by Simon Lacouline and published by F Lepine Publishing. This book was released on 2013-03 with total page 164 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "I am amazed at how agile Simon was while guiding us thru such a liberating experience. I dearly recommend this book to everyone who seeks to better understand life." - MahaVajra "Since our whole experience of reality depends on our perception, wouldn't it be important to ask ourselves how reliable it is? What does it really allow us to perceive and, most importantly, what does it prevent us from perceiving? The answer to these questions could dissolve the limits of our experience!" A lot of work has gone into this book, of which the writing part was by far the easiest. It deals with things that a part of you may not want to see. What you are about to read has all been experienced first hand. Some of those things may upset or provoke you as they have provoked me while I kept repeating them to myself and doing them in my daily life. However, I discovered that what was upsetting me was my unwillingness to let go. Only then did I realize that I had been my own torturer all along and only then did I experience a freedom I could not have imagined possible. It is amazing how holding on tight to something that does not exist can create so much discomfort! I wish to thank Master Maha Vajra for his availability and invaluable guidance over the last decade. I wish for all of you to have the courage to tackle your own fears and your own ego head on, to not judge yourself for perceived mistakes you may have done or may eventually do, to be compassionate about other people and the illusions they may still have, to keep your current transient experiences in perspective and to remember who you truly are.

Book The Art of Perception

Download or read book The Art of Perception written by Jarrod Wilson and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2020-04-03 with total page 278 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For as long as humans have been conscious we've desired to truly understand the mind and tap into the power we have always had within us. We've conflictingly been held back by our own concepts and misjudgments about our emotions and perceptions. The unique and simplistic information presented within this book goes in detail about the cause of our suffering allowing us to naturally heal and conquer ourselves. Wilson uses a variety of different perspectives to help broaden your level of awareness subconsciously. From short stories to personal experiences, it's entire makeup is that of something remarkable. The look in the mirror can be scary, but it is critical we look anyway. Wilson's way of helping individuals understand themselves provides the necessary steps to being better at evaluating others.

Download or read book Perception written by Dennis Proffitt and published by Macmillan + ORM. This book was released on 2020-07-28 with total page 198 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A groundbreaking popular psychology book that explores the deep connection between our body and our brain. Over decades of study, University of Virginia psychologist Dennis Proffitt has shown that we are each living our own personal version of Gulliver’s Travels, where the size and shape of the things we see are scaled to the size of our bodies, and our ability to interact with them. Stairs look less steep as dieters lose weight, baseballs grow bigger the better players hit, hills look less daunting if you’re standing next to a close friend, and learning happens faster when you can talk with your hands. Written with journalist Drake Baer, Perception marries academic rigor with mainstream accessibility. The research presented and the personalities profiled will show what it means to not only have, but be, your unique human body. The positive ramifications of viewing ourselves from this embodied perspective include greater athletic, academic, and professional achievement, more nourishing relationships, and greater personal well-being. The better we can understand what our bodies are—what they excel at, what they need, what they must avoid—the better we can live our lives.

Book Perception and Perspective

Download or read book Perception and Perspective written by Maher Asaad Baker and published by Maher Asaad Baker. This book was released on 2024-01-01 with total page 158 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Your perception of reality is not reality itself. The lens through which you view the world—your unique perspective—shapes everything you experience. But how do perception and perspective interact? And how can understanding their subtle differences empower you to live a more examined and meaningful life? In this book, we'll explore the cognitive processes forming the human experience's foundation. Through compelling case studies and exercises, we'll illustrate how our perceptions are sculpted beginning in childhood by innate biases and environmental influences outside our control, and how perspective, the position from which we observe, retains potential for growth if we cultivate mindfulness and open-mindedness. Learning to distinguish perception from perspective is the first step to recognizing unconscious patterns and enlarging our sphere of thought. This journey of self-discovery is challenging but rewarding. Within these pages, you will find a map to reclaiming ownership over your internal and external worlds. The choice to see more clearly has never been more urgent or liberating.

Book Take Off Your Glasses and See

Download or read book Take Off Your Glasses and See written by Jacob Liberman and published by Harmony. This book was released on 2011-06-22 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This revolutionary new look at vision will broaden your understanding of how you see and how you can see without your glasses or contact lenses. Take Off Your Glasses and See shows you how to free yourself from the crutch of prescription lenses, to build your self-confidence and awareness, and to open up your inner and outer vision in order to see more clearly. Jacob Liberman, an internationally recognized authority on holistic vision care, explains how most vision problems are the result of an unconscious decision to "close your eyes" to emotional discomfort or pain, and how increasingly powerful corrective lenses only encourage eyesight to withdraw even further. By removing lenses and practicing breath- and movement-awareness techniques to shift your perception, you can reintegrate the original disruption in the mind/body system. Dr. Liberman’s approach can help you join the thousands who have escaped from the self-defeating cycle of poor vision.

Gathering twenty-one of the fields most important writings, this volume will deepen and broaden our understanding of changing perceptions of sound and hearing and the ongoing education of our senses. The essays stimulate thinking on key questions: What is aural history? Why has vision tended to triumph over hearing in historical accounts? How might we begin to reclaim the sounds of the past? Some essays show the historian of technology at work, others highlight how military, social, intellectual, and cultural historians have tackled historical acoustemologies. Investigating soundscapes that include a Puritan meetinghouse in colonial New England, the belfries of a French village at the close of the Old Regime, the court hall of Elizabeth I, and a Civil War battlefield, the essays vary just as widely in their topics, which include noise as a marker of social and cultural differences, the privileging of music as the sound of art, the persistence of Aristotelian ideas of sound into the seventeenth century, developments in sound related to medical practice, the advent of sound-recording technology, and noise pollution.
