Book Broadband Fan Noise Generated by Small Scale Turbulence

Download or read book Broadband Fan Noise Generated by Small Scale Turbulence written by National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2018-07-17 with total page 106 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report describes the development of prediction methods for broadband fan noise from aircraft engines. First, experimental evidence of the most important source mechanisms is reviewed. It is found that there are a number of competing source mechanism involved and that there is no single dominant source to which noise control procedures can be applied. Theoretical models are then developed for: (1) ducted rotors and stator vanes interacting with duct wall boundary layers, (2) ducted rotor self noise, and (3) stator vanes operating in the wakes of rotors. All the turbulence parameters required for these models are based on measured quantities. Finally the theoretical models are used to predict measured fan noise levels with some success. Book Handbook of Noise and Vibration Control

Download or read book Handbook of Noise and Vibration Control written by Malcolm J. Crocker and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2007-10-05 with total page 1594 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Two of the most acclaimed reference works in the area of acoustics in recent years have been our Encyclopedia of Acoustics, 4 Volume set and the Handbook of Acoustics spin-off. These works, edited by Malcolm Crocker, positioned Wiley as a major player in the acoustics reference market. With our recently published revision of Beranek & Ver's Noise and Vibration Control Engineering, Wiley is a highly respected name in the acoustics business. Crocker's new handbook covers an area of great importance to engineers and designers. Noise and vibration control is one largest areas of application of the acoustics topics covered in the successful encyclopedia and handbook. It is also an area that has been under-published in recent years. Crocker has positioned this reference to cover the gamut of topics while focusing more on the applications to industrial needs. In this way the book will become the best single source of need-to-know information for the professional markets.

Book Engineering Acoustics

Download or read book Engineering Acoustics written by Malcolm J. Crocker and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2021-01-11 with total page 784 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: ENGINEERING ACOUSTICS NOISE AND VIBRATION CONTROL A masterful introduction to the theory of acoustics along with methods for the control of noise and vibration In Engineering Acoustics: Noise and Vibration Control, two experts in the field review the fundamentals of acoustics, noise, and vibration. The authors show how this theoretical work can be applied to real-world problems such as the control of noise and vibration in aircraft, automobiles and trucks, machinery, and road and rail vehicles. Engineering Acoustics: Noise and Vibration Control covers a wide range of topics. The sixteen chapters include the following: Human hearing and individual and community response to noise and vibration Noise and vibration instrumentation and measurements Interior and exterior noise of aircraft as well as road and rail vehicles Methods for the control of noise and vibration in industrial equipment and machinery Use of theoretical models in absorptive and reactive muffler and silencer designs Practical applications of finite element, boundary element and statistical energy analysis Sound intensity theory, measurements, and applications Noise and vibration control in buildings How to design air-conditioning systems to minimize noise and vibration Readers, whether students, professional engineers, or community planners, will find numerous worked examples throughout the book, and useful references at the end of each chapter to support supplemental reading on specific topics. There is a detailed index and a glossary of terms in acoustics, noise, and vibration.

Book The Art of Sound Reproduction

Download or read book The Art of Sound Reproduction written by John Watkinson and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2012-11-12 with total page 574 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Designed to make life a little easier by providing all the theoretical background necessary to understand sound reproduction, backed up with practical examples. Specialist terms - both musical and physical - are defined as they occur and plain English is used throughout. Analog and digital audio are considered as alternatives, and the advantages of both are stressed. Audio is only as good as the transducers employed, and consequently microphone and loudspeaker technology also feature heavily - making this the most comprehensive, up-to-date text currently available on all aspects of sound reproduction.
