Book Broadband Fan Noise Generated by Small Scale Turbulence

Download or read book Broadband Fan Noise Generated by Small Scale Turbulence written by National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2018-07-17 with total page 106 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report describes the development of prediction methods for broadband fan noise from aircraft engines. First, experimental evidence of the most important source mechanisms is reviewed. It is found that there are a number of competing source mechanism involved and that there is no single dominant source to which noise control procedures can be applied. Theoretical models are then developed for: (1) ducted rotors and stator vanes interacting with duct wall boundary layers, (2) ducted rotor self noise, and (3) stator vanes operating in the wakes of rotors. All the turbulence parameters required for these models are based on measured quantities. Finally the theoretical models are used to predict measured fan noise levels with some success. Book Mechanics of Flow Induced Sound and Vibration Volume 2

Download or read book Mechanics of Flow Induced Sound and Vibration Volume 2 written by William K. Blake and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2017-08-14 with total page 696 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mechanics of Flow-Induced Sound and Vibration, Volume 2: Complex Flow-Structure Interactions, Second Edition, enables readers to fully understand flow-induced vibration and sound, unifying the disciplines of fluid dynamics, structural dynamics, vibration, acoustics, and statistics in order to classify and examine each of the leading sources of vibration and sound induced by various types of fluid motion. Starting from classical theories of aeroacoustics and hydroacoustics, a formalism of integral solutions valid for sources near boundaries is developed and then broadened to address different source types, including hydrodynamically induced cavitation and bubble noise, turbulent wall-pressure fluctuations, pipe and duct systems, lifting surface flow noise and vibration, and noise from rotating machinery. Each chapter is illustrated with comparisons of leading formulas and measured data. Combined with its companion book, Mechanics of Flow-Induced Sound and Vibration, Volume 1: General Concepts and Elementary Sources, the book covers everything an engineer needs to understand flow-induced sound and vibration. This book will be a vital source of information for postgraduate students, engineers and researchers with an interest in aerospace, ships and submarines, offshore structures, construction, and ventilation. - Presents every important topic in flow-induced sound and vibration - Covers all aspects of the topics addressed, from fundamental theory, to the analytical formulas used in practice - Provides the building blocks of computer modeling for flow-induced sound and vibration

Book Advanced Applications in Acoustics Noise and Vibration

Download or read book Advanced Applications in Acoustics Noise and Vibration written by Frank Fahy and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-09-03 with total page 656 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Advanced Applications in Acoustics, Noise and Vibration provides comprehensive and up-to-date overviews of knowledge, applications and research activities in a range of topics that are of current interest in the practice of engineering acoustics and vibration technology. The thirteen chapters are grouped into four parts: signal processing, acoustic modelling, environmental and industrial acoustics, and vibration. Following on from its companion volume Fundamentals of Noise and Vibration this book is based partly on material covered in a selection of elective modules in the second semester of the Masters programme in 'Sound and Vibration Studies' of the Institute of Sound and Vibration Research at the University of Southampton, UK and partly on material presented in the annual ISVR short course 'Advanced Course in Acoustics, Noise and Vibration'.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Until now, anyone conducting industrial combustion tests had to either rely on old methods, go scurrying through the literature to find proven applicable methodologies, or hire top-shelf consultants such as those that work for cutting-edge companies like John Zink. Manufacturers can no longer take industrial combustion for granted. Air and noise po

Book Noise and Noise Control

Download or read book Noise and Noise Control written by Malcolm J. Crocker and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-01-18 with total page 306 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is written more for the practitioner than the casual reader. Although a high mathematical level is not needed, for much of the material some engineering knowledge is desirable. Noise control is not easy and there are no magic answers to problems. Careful study and patience are required to produce proficiency in the field of noise control.
