Book British and Commonwealth Ww2 Model Making

Download or read book British and Commonwealth Ww2 Model Making written by Sean Dunnage and published by Pen & Sword Military. This book was released on 2023-11-30 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A lavishly illustrated book offering detailed how-to steps to build military models of the British & Commonwealth forces in multiple modeling scales in the Second World War. The book consists of scratch built, conversions and basic kit models of famous military vehicles built to a high standard through the entire process that will appeal to all modelers from beginner to advanced. With the growing amount of British and Commonwealth subjects being produced, now seemed the perfect time to create a book that explores these often overlooked subjects. I now have the option to build a motorcycle my mother rode in Berlin, the motorcycle my uncle used in Europe in 44/45 or a Ford 3 ton lorry that my father drove in Holland or even the Daimler armored car he commanded in Korea. I am sure the same goes for many others who had relatives in the wars of the early 20th century that being able to replicate these vehicles gives them a sense of closeness and understanding and a way to bring history alive.

This book was released on 2015-09-23 with total page 403 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: During the Second World War navies developed low visibility camouflage for their ships, on both the vertical and horizontal surfaces, in order reduce visibility by blending in with the sea, or confuse the identity of a ship by applying more obtrusive patters. In this the second volume by maritime artist Mal Wright, both the official and unofficial paint schemes that adorned the capital ships of the Royal Navy and Commonwealth are depicted in detail, along with discussions on changes of armament and electronics that effected the outward appearance of each ship. Beginning with the Royal Sovereign class, the book goes on to cover all the other battleship classes as well as the battlecruisers, monitors, the first and second generation carriers as well as light and escort carriers. Where possible both sides of the ship are depicted, and there are multiple images of the ships where armament or equipment changes had a fundamental impact on a ship's appearance. Overhead views are also included. With 525 full colour illustrations, arranged by ship type rather than camouflage scheme, this book concentrates the clearest possible information into a single volume to provide a one-stop reference source. Many schemes would be difficult for the reader to have found other than with the most intensive research so that historians, collectors, modelmakers and wargamers will find this unique reference source absolutely invaluable.

Book History of Contemporary Japan since World War II

Download or read book History of Contemporary Japan since World War II written by Edward R. Beauchamp and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2013-04-11 with total page 376 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The best scholarship on the development of contemporary Japan This collection presents well over 100 scholarly articles on modern Japanese society, written by leading scholars in the field. These selections have been drawn from the most distinguished scholarly journals as well as from journals that are less well known among specialists; and the articles represent the best and most important scholarship on their particular topic. An understanding of the present through the lens of the past The field of modern Japan studies has grown steadily as Westerners have recognized the importance of Japan as a lading world economic force and an emerging regional power. The post-1945 economic success of the Japanese has, however, been achieved in the context of that nation's history, social structure, educational enterprise and political environment. It is impossible to understand the postwar economic miracle without an appreciation of these elements. Japan's economic emergence has brought about and in some cases, exacerbated already existing tensions, and these tensions have, in turn, had a significant impact on Japanese economic life. The series is designed to give readers a basic understanding of modern Japan-its institutions and its people-as we stand on the threshold of a new century, often referred to as the Pacific Century.

Book World War II Behind Closed Doors

Download or read book World War II Behind Closed Doors written by Laurence Rees and published by Vintage. This book was released on 2009-04-28 with total page 466 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this revelatory chronicle of World War II, Laurence Rees documents the dramatic and secret deals that helped make the war possible and prompted some of the most crucial decisions made during the conflict. Drawing on material available only since the opening of archives in Eastern Europe and Russia, as well as amazing new testimony from nearly a hundred separate witnesses from the period—Rees reexamines the key choices made by Stalin, Churchill and Roosevelt during the war, and presents, in a compelling and fresh way, the reasons why the people of Poland, the Baltic states, and other European countries simply swapped the rule of one tyrant for another. Surprising, incisive, and endlessly intriguing, World War II Behind Closed Doors will change the way we think about the Second World War.
