Book Bridge To the Things of Eternity

Download or read book Bridge To the Things of Eternity written by Terry Dodd and published by Yawn Publishing LLC. This book was released on 2021-12-21 with total page 136 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Is "dead" really dead? Many people believe this, but even Shakespeare gave it some thought when penning his famous soliloquy (borrowed from the apostle Paul and 1st Corinthians 15:55)-"O death, where is thy sting?" Others, however, believe the truth of the matter as shared with the dozen words written within John 3:16: "Everyone who believes in Him will not perish, but have eternal life." Critically, eternal life isn't only for the few who believe, but for everyone! The real questions are these: Where will we spend eternal life, and what of the Bridge on this book's cover, which is a visual metaphor for Christ and the things of eternity.

Book The Bridge to Eternal Life

Download or read book The Bridge to Eternal Life written by Ronald A Train and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2016-12-09 with total page 195 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book seeks, in an Australian context, to provide assurance to the reader about eternal life. To achieve this, the book investigates the evidence for eternal life from the Bible and contrasts such evidence with nonbiblical sources. Attention is given to how the Bible authenticates eternal life and how ones profession of faith brings assurance of eternal life. Then systematically, the truth of eternal life is revealed by examining the Old Testament, the Intertestamental period, the New Testament, and the problematic subject of the intermediate state. In the final two chapters, the book critically evaluates nonbiblical views about eternal life and concludes with a chapter titled 'Soul-Searching Insights' to fuel the inquisitive mind.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A view of the eons or of the ages When the sovereignties and authorities and powers of the universe were created, they were of spirit only, having no comprehension of righteousness or salvation and, least of all, faith to know God. Their souls were eternal and could not die a final death. God knew He must provide a way for them to enter a dying state and then become a new creation, one that would come to know God by their own faith. He made the eons in Christ Jesus, a world of tangible and visible substance, which could be seen and heard and touched. He brought the souls of those beings into the eons to place them in human bodies. God made Adam and placed him in the garden of Eden. He told Adam not to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for the day he disobeyed Him, he would begin to die. When Adam ate of that tree, he did begin to die. Every human being after Adam inherited the same dying state. These are souls of celestial beings having become the souls of humanity. Paul termed this process, both the powerful operation of God and the untraceable riches of Christ (see Eph. 3:7B""12). This was the multifarious wisdom of God acting in accord with the purpose of the eons and made in Christ Jesus our Lord. Now when Jesus has placed all his enemies under his feet and hands the entire kingdom over to his God and Father, those celestial beings shall be nullified. They will have become swallowed up by humanity and become an all new creation, and God shall be All in all. See 1 Corinthians 15:24""28. ECT

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Always," wrote Philip Larkin, "it is by bridges that we live." Bridges represent our aspirations to connect, to soar across divides. And it is the unfinished business of these aspirations that makes bridges such stirring sights, especially when they are marvels of ingenuity. A rich compendium of myths, superstitions, literary and ideological figurations, as well as architectural and musical illustrations, Of Bridges organizes a poetic and philosophical history of bridges into nine thematic clusters. Leaping in lucid prose between seemingly unrelated times and places, Thomas Harrison gives a panoramic account of the diverse meanings and valences of human bridges, questioning why they are built and where they lead. He investigates bridges as flashpoints in war and the mega-bridges of our globalized world. He probes links forged by religion between life's transience and eternity and the consolidating ties of music, illustrated in a case study of the blues. He illuminates the real and symbolic crossings facing migrants each day and the affective connections that make persons and societies cohere. In fine and intricate readings of literature, philosophy, art, and geography, Harrison engages in a profound reflection on how bridges form and transform cultural communities. Interdisciplinary and deeply lyrical, Of Bridges is a mesmerizing, vertiginous tale of bridges both visible and invisible, both lived and imagined.

Book excerpt: Do you ever wonder whether God even cares if we’re happy? This world can be so hard, and we aren’t promised an easy road. But that’s not the whole story. The Bible is filled with verses that prove that ours is a God who not only loves celebrations but also desperately wants his children to experience happiness. Why else would he go to the lengths he did to ensure our eternal happiness in his presence? We know that we will experience unimaginable joy and happiness in heaven, but that doesn’t mean we can’t also experience joy and happiness here on earth. In Happiness, noted theologian Randy Alcorn (bestselling author of Heaven) dispels centuries of misconceptions about happiness, including downright harmful ideas like the prosperity gospel, and provides indisputable proof that God not only wants us to be happy, he commands it. Randy covers questions like: How can I cultivate happiness in my life? What’s the difference between joy and happiness? Can good things become idols that steal our happiness? Is seeking happiness selfish? How can I achieve happiness through gratitude? What does it look like to receive God’s grace? The most definitive study on the subject of happiness to date, this book is a paradigm-shifting wake-up call for the church and Christians everywhere.

Book The World Is a Narrow Bridge

Download or read book The World Is a Narrow Bridge written by Aaron Thier and published by Bloomsbury Publishing USA. This book was released on 2018-07-03 with total page 276 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “A book that looks at existence with equal measures of fear, humility and gratitude. In a time when novelists tend to be more concerned with psychology than the soul, that makes it a rare and valuable thing.” --Sam Sacks, Wall Street Journal From the author of Mr. Eternity, a darkly comic road novel about a millennial couple facing the ultimate question: how to live and love in an age of catastrophe. Young Miami couple Murphy and Eva have almost decided to have a baby when Yahweh, the Old Testament God, appears to Eva and makes an unwelcome demand: He wants her to be his prophet. He also wants her to manage his social media presence. Yahweh sends the two on a wild road trip across the country, making incomprehensible demands and mandating arcane rituals as they go. He gives them a hundred million dollars, but he asks them to use it to build a temple on top of a landfill. He forces them to endure a period of Biblical wandering in the deserts of the southwest. Along the way they are continually mistaken for another couple, a pair of North Carolina society people, and find themselves attending increasingly bizarre events in their names. At odds with their mission but helpless to disobey, Murphy and Eva search their surroundings for signs of a future they can have faith in. Through wry observations about the biggest things--cosmology and theology--and the smallest things--the joys and irritations of daily life--Thier questions the mysterious forces that shape our fates, and wonders how much free will we really have. Equal parts hilarious and poignant, The World Is a Narrow Bridge asks: What kind of hope can we pass on to the next generation in a frightening but beautiful world?

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Yes, that's my bag. I left it at the lace counter. Thank you. Please give it to me. What? I must prove property? Why, don't you see it's mine? That twisty silver monogram on the side is really E. C. S. That's my name, Ella C. Saunders. I told Jim I thought the letters were too wiggly to be easily read, but I never thought anybody'd want to read it but me. Describe contents? Why, of course I can describe the contents! In one pocket is a sample of lace, just Platte Val, you know, not an expensive lace, and with it-I think it's with it-is a sample of rose-colored crêpe de Chine-that is, not exactly rose-colored-sort of crushed plummish or burnt magenta-but no-come to think, I left those samples with my dressmaker. Well, anyway, there's a Subway ticket-or let me see, did I use that coming down? I believe I did! Well, there's a little memorandum card that slips in-the celluloid sort, you know. No, there's nothing written on it. I don't use it because, though they pretend you can wash them like a slate, you can't. They just smudge. What do you mean by saying I haven't told a definite thing yet? I've told you lots! Well, there's some money-I don't know how much; some chicken feed, as Jim calls it-and a five-dollar bill, I think-oh no-I paid that to the butcher.
