Book Handbook of Tissue Optical Clearing

Download or read book Handbook of Tissue Optical Clearing written by Valery V. Tuchin and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2022-02-04 with total page 682 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Biomedical photonics is currently one of the fastest growing fields, connecting research in physics, optics, and electrical engineering coupled with medical and biological applications. It allows for the structural and functional analysis of tissues and cells with resolution and contrast unattainable by any other methods. However, the major challenges of many biophotonics techniques are associated with the need to enhance imaging resolution even further to the sub-cellular level as well as translate them for in vivo studies. The tissue optical clearing method uses immersion of tissues into optical clearing agents (OCAs) that reduces the scattering of tissue and makes tissue more transparent and this method has been successfully used ever since. This book is a self-contained introduction to tissue optical clearing, including the basic principles and in vitro biological applications, from in vitro to in vivo tissue optical clearing methods, and combination of tissue optical clearing and various optical imaging for diagnosis. The chapters cover a wide range of issues related to the field of tissue optical clearing: mechanisms of tissue optical clearing in vitro and in vivo; traditional and innovative optical clearing agents; recent achievements in optical clearing of different tissues (including pathological tissues) and blood for optical imaging diagnosis and therapy. This book provides a comprehensive account of the latest research and possibilities of utilising optical clearing as an instrument for improving the diagnostic effectiveness of modern optical diagnostic methods. The book is addressed to biophysicist researchers, graduate students and postdocs of biomedical specialties, as well as biomedical engineers and physicians interested in the development and application of optical methods in medicine. Key features: The first collective reference to collate all known knowledge on this topic Edited by experts in the field with chapter contributions from subject area specialists Brings together the two main approaches in immersion optical clearing into one cohesive book

    Book Details:
  • Author : Sukriti Nag
  • Publisher : Springer Science & Business Media
  • Release : 2008-02-01
  • ISBN : 1592594190

Download or read book Blood Brain Barrier written by Sukriti Nag and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2008-02-01 with total page 543 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Blood–brain barrier (BBB) breakdown leading to cerebral edema occurs in many brain diseases—such as trauma, stroke, inflammation, infection, and tumors—and is an important factor in the mortality arising from these con- tions. Despite the importance of the BBB in the pathogenesis of these diseases, the molecular mechanisms occurring at the BBB are not completely und- stood. In the last decade a number of molecules have been identified not only in endothelial cells, but also in astrocytes, pericytes, and the perivascular cells that interact with endothelium to maintain cerebral homeostasis. However, the precise cellular interactions at a molecular level in steady states and d- eases have still to be determined. The introduction of new research techniques during the last decade or so provide an opportunity to study the molecular mec- nisms occurring at the BBB in diseases. The Blood–Brain Barrier: Biology and Research Protocols provides the reader with details of selected morphologic, permeability, transport, in vitro, and molecular techniques for BBB studies, all written by experts in the field. Each part is preceded by a review that emphasizes the advantages and pitfalls of particular techniques, as well as offering much relevant current information. The techniques provided will be helpful to both beginners in BBB research and those more experienced investigators who wish to add a specific technique to those already available in their laboratories.

Book Human Intellect Optimal Tuning and Control

Download or read book Human Intellect Optimal Tuning and Control written by Yuri Iserlis and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2020-07-22 with total page 486 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is easily can be proved that the human brain equipped sense organs can work as an universal measuring tool, and measure with sufficient accuracy after some training not only a distance, mass or volume, but and parameters of important personal functions. Unfortunately, this instrument does not have an indicator device (panel) and results of measurements usually hidden in the depth of subconscious part of mind. To extract these results of measurements, at first, is needed to find an access code for this information, secondly, to deduce this information in a convenient for perception form, and after that to decipher it. Based on this approach a new method of direct measurement of intellectual parameters was used for appraisal such characteristics of intellect and mind as creativity, intuition, willpower, stress level, vital energy index, etc. Verification of the accuracy of measurement of some bio-physical parameters measured by the same method (for example number of thrombocytes in the blood) is carried out by comparison with laboratory blood tests. Research and physical measurements of a person's intellectual abilities have shown that they can change significantly from the influence of many external factors and, first of all, of light, electromagnetic and sound perceptions of the senses, both for the better and for the worse. This allows significantly increasing the capabilities and expanding the range of use of any entrainment technology. Using algorithms of multi-parameter optimization, the method allows increasing the level of intellect and its components in several times practically for everyone. Measurement of willpower and stress opens the prospect for many people to maintain their health and activity at the proper level throughout life. In the book are collected also some rules and methods allowing to support intellectual abilities of the mind on an optimum level by means of mindset management, control of the subconscious mind, cognitive control, and control emotions. Method of measurement of intellectual abilities and compatibility of team members can be used in process of the hiring, searching a bride, etc.
