Book Gifted and Talented Right Brain Training for Children Ages 3 6

Download or read book Gifted and Talented Right Brain Training for Children Ages 3 6 written by Alex Pang Ph D and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2014-08 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The workbook Right Brain Training is part of the BrainStorm series. It consists 60 colorful pages. This book hones in on developing visual and spatial recognition abilities, creative skills and language interpretation. The activities included in this book are engaging and interactive, allowing children to draw and color directly in the book. The other three books of the series is geared towards developing other specific aspects of your child's brain and intellectual capacities. When using these workbooks, we suggest that teachers or parents read aloud the questions and encourage the child to explain his or her reasoning for each answer. Teachers and parents should also lead the child to think beyond the question and to consider how the answers would change accordingly if the questions were altered slightly. Before the age of 5, children are most susceptible to learning because their brains are growing and developing rapidly. Early educational experiences are vital to every child's life, and we at Pi For Kids Inc. aspire to play a role in this journey that all children must take.

Book The Learning Brain

    Book Details:
  • Author : Torkel Klingberg
  • Publisher : Oxford University Press, USA
  • Release : 2013
  • ISBN : 0199917108
  • Pages : 196 pages

Download or read book The Learning Brain written by Torkel Klingberg and published by Oxford University Press, USA. This book was released on 2013 with total page 196 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Despite all our highly publicized efforts to improve our schools, the United States is still falling behind. We recently ranked 15th in the world in reading, math, and science. Clearly, more needs to be done. In The Learning Brain, Torkel Klingberg urges us to use the insights of neuroscience to improve the education of our children. The key to improving education lies in understanding how the brain works: that is where learning takes place, after all. The book focuses in particular on working memory--our ability to concentrate and to keep relevant information in our head while ignoring distractions (a topic the author covered in The Overflowing Brain). Research shows enormous variation in working memory among children, with some ten-year-olds performing at the level of a fourteen-year old, others at that of a six-year old. More important, children with high working memory have better math and reading skills, while children with poor working memory consistently underperform. Interestingly, teachers tend to perceive children with poor working memory as dreamy or unfocused, not recognizing that these children have a memory problem. But what can we do for these children? For one, we can train working memory. The Learning Brain provides a variety of different techniques and scientific insights that may just teach us how to improve our children's working memory. Klingberg also discusses how stress can impair working memory (skydivers tested just before a jump showed a 30% drop in working memory) and how aerobic exercise can actually modify the brain's nerve cells and improve classroom performance. Torkel Klingberg is one of the world's leading cognitive neuroscientists, but in this book he wears his erudition lightly, writing with simplicity and good humor as he shows us how to give our children the best chance to learn and grow.

Book The Whole Brain Child

Download or read book The Whole Brain Child written by Daniel J. Siegel and published by Delacorte Press. This book was released on 2011-10-04 with total page 194 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • More than 1 million copies in print! • The authors of No-Drama Discipline and The Yes Brain explain the new science of how a child’s brain is wired and how it matures in this pioneering, practical book. “Simple, smart, and effective solutions to your child’s struggles.”—Harvey Karp, M.D. In this pioneering, practical book, Daniel J. Siegel, neuropsychiatrist and author of the bestselling Mindsight, and parenting expert Tina Payne Bryson offer a revolutionary approach to child rearing with twelve key strategies that foster healthy brain development, leading to calmer, happier children. The authors explain—and make accessible—the new science of how a child’s brain is wired and how it matures. The “upstairs brain,” which makes decisions and balances emotions, is under construction until the mid-twenties. And especially in young children, the right brain and its emotions tend to rule over the logic of the left brain. No wonder kids throw tantrums, fight, or sulk in silence. By applying these discoveries to everyday parenting, you can turn any outburst, argument, or fear into a chance to integrate your child’s brain and foster vital growth. Complete with age-appropriate strategies for dealing with day-to-day struggles and illustrations that will help you explain these concepts to your child, The Whole-Brain Child shows you how to cultivate healthy emotional and intellectual development so that your children can lead balanced, meaningful, and connected lives. “[A] useful child-rearing resource for the entire family . . . The authors include a fair amount of brain science, but they present it for both adult and child audiences.”—Kirkus Reviews “Strategies for getting a youngster to chill out [with] compassion.”—The Washington Post “This erudite, tender, and funny book is filled with fresh ideas based on the latest neuroscience research. I urge all parents who want kind, happy, and emotionally healthy kids to read The Whole-Brain Child. This is my new baby gift.”—Mary Pipher, Ph.D., author of Reviving Ophelia and The Shelter of Each Other “Gives parents and teachers ideas to get all parts of a healthy child’s brain working together.”—Parent to Parent
